Today We're recreating the famous Ratatouille (Confite Byaldi) from Pixar's movie, Ratatouille! This is our new series Lets Recreate, where we make dishes from animes, movies and shows! Ratatouille is one of our favorite movies, and we have been wanting to make this dish for a very long time.

Full Recipe Here: twoplaidaprons.com/ratatouille/

There was no exact recipe for the ratatouille from the movie, so we tried our best by watching the movie and researching Chef Thomas Keller (the creator of the dish for the movie) to figure out what he did to make the ratatouille. Also let us know if there are any other dishes you would like to see us recreate!

If you want us to make a full recipe, comment down below and we will make one and put it on our blog for you!

  • Words cannot express the disappointment I felt when I figured out this was essentially a baked salad
  • @305backup
When I first saw this as a kid I thought it was some fancy dish made of pepperonis and tomatos. Needless to say I really wanted some.
  • I can see why when he tasted it, he was immediately sent back to his childhood. He could remember and taste the time and care and affection that went into the meal his mother created. Once you see it prepared, you truly appreciate why someone would find such deep sentimentality in this dish.

our chef made this for us the last time i was in france, she spent all afternoon preparing it, along with a main course and dessert, and it was the best meal i have had to date. thank you Sylvie!

“Sometimes cooking is about using what you have…” thank you! Too many times people are steered away from attempting a recipe because the original contains some ingredient that is only available on Saturn. You should etch that quote and have it dipped in bronze.

Whoa this is so cool! You guys have some serious skills, techniques, cookware, editing, and composition - looks like I'll be adding another channel to my inspiration list! p.s. that copper pan and knife are beautiful and i'm very very jealous
  • hey i just wanted to share it here, i made a little poem i felt really inspired by the video and the movie so here it is Cooking is caring Isn't it wonderful the way the kitchen prepares poetry in motion often after a warm bath, they peel off the skin, only to better taste the flavors, but do no harm to flesh. the sparks explode and create a small flame, softening the aroma so it’ll grow stronger over time the way sometimes both ingredients need their time, so they are left to simmer, they reduce, but enhance each other it’s no wonder it is called: “marrying the flavors”

Can we all just agree that this RATAOUILLE was the splitting image of that shown in the movie 😍😍
  • @Melly2times
I know I wasn't the only one who thought this was pepperoni's growing up😂
  • I'm gonna need like 30 servings of that Ratatouille to even feel full tbh
  • @Miaou12
I am speechless! From the editing to the dish itself as well as the jazz lounge music, I see perfection all over. Fantastic video guys and thanks for the laugh at the end! Love from France ♥♥♥

This video quality is so good, that it almost looked animated. Crazy.
  • @unknown49818
The creation and production of this video is simply marvelous! The music along with the nostalgic sounds of cooking. Also, the representation and the camera angles are perfect. Keep up these amazing cuisine videos!

To be fair, when Remy wanted to cook the dish for Anton Ego, Colette pointed out that it was “a peasant dish” so the fact that it’s literally a baked salad isn’t too far fetched. People make do with what they’ve got, and this version of Ratatouille likely appealed to Ego because A.) the dish was a prominent meal in his childhood, and B.) the dish was given the high-end restaurant flair Ego had come to know as a food critic.
  • @dynamagon
The whole process and final product of this video has got to be the most aesthetically pleasing version of this recipe I've seen so far.
  • @marioskbar
It’s beautiful. I make this once a year but really wish I had the time to make it more often. I’ve thought about making the version like the one the critic thinks about when he drops his pen and has the flashback to when he was little. It’s more like a stew with chopped vegetables. Probably save a lot of time and maybe I would make it more often. But this version is like a work of art 🙌🏼
  • It's funny, the reason Remmy knows how to make the food critic's mom's recipe for ratatouille (enough to take him back to his childhood) is because the house he was cooking in, at the very beginning, belonged to the food critic's mom. She was the one who chased them out with the shotgun, and it was her recipes that Remmy had been studying before then

"If you don't have something, don't worry! Sometimes cooking is about adapting and working with what you have." I didn't have a pan so I just used the counter top
  • @DoubO_
I love this, not only does it give my Eggplants a use, but it also looks so good 🤤The tutorial is so peaceful, with so helpful captions!
