My grandmother recieved a palladium engagement ring from my grandfather in the 1940s. Palladium has been a precious metal for longer than 20 years.

Regarding 2:42, the Spanish Conquistadors encountered platinum in Mesoamerica & South America during the 1500s. They named it platino, meaning "little silver". At the time platinum was considered to be a nuisance impurity to gold. This was because platinum had such a high melting temperature of 3,215°F (1,768°C) that it could not be melted until the invention of the oxyhydrogen torch. Then platinum started to be used for items of jewelry during the late 1700s by Marc-Etienne Janety who was the Royal Goldsmith to King Louis XVI of France.

I bought my palladium wedding when it was a lot less expensive than platinum. I bought my palladium ring for $500 and now that same ring would cost me over $2000. I never thought palladium would one day cost most more than platinum. Platinum and palladium look alike, but platinum is denser. Therefore, it weights more but it’s impossible to distinguish the two just with your eyes. I have owned platinum as well, so I’m speaking from personal experience.

  • Which one would you say is better to get if you have skin allergies (mainly to nickle) Palladium or platinum? Many thanks. X

I have both, not as a wedding band, just like platinum group metals and chemistry. Even with a high polish I can see the difference- the platinum is lighter reminiscient of polshed silver where the palladium has a blueish tinge, similar but distinct from my tungsten thumb ring. The palladium cost less than the platinum, even though my right ring finger is larger than my pinky- palladium is the more expensive metal, but the platinum ring ways quite a bit more than the palladium- costs were similar with the platinum ring costing £20 more.

I wear a watch everyday. I don’t acknowledge that I’ve worn that watch for over many years. It’s stainless steel… you get used to things to the point where you don’t know it exists on your body. Yet you’ll always know you have it on you and especially in this case, that’s really all that matters.

Do you make A 99.99% pure Rhodium ring bands aswell?

I've been trying to decide between a platinum or a palladium ring for a few weeks now but I think I'm going to go with platinum because of the weight. Call me old fashioned but I like my luxury items to have a certain heft. I'm a bit worried about the scratches but I think I'm just going to have to deal with it as a part of the experience and hope it builds character, not takes it away.

What will b the cost a platinum band vs gold plus if platinum cost more then why is it ? If u say cause of making charges but does it justify its cost being more then a gold band?
