  • Only bought the marvel vs capcom machine, the one with the special edition art, because that was the art I was planning on using for the sides of the custom build arcade I was planning, thought I would save a couple bucks by Frankenstein-ing it together with my plans. Turns out it was still a little too small for my six foot tall selfšŸ˜‚ shouldā€™ve read the measurements more carefully I guess but Iā€™ve still made it work. Nevertheless your video was quite enjoyable, well reasoned and structured, a good watch. Thumbs up from me
  • @The_RadicalOne
Iā€™m so glad I didnā€™t pay top dollar for these arcades. You are so right about everything you said.
  • @bofett74
Born in 74. I own 2 cabs, ATM pinball, and 2 Partycades. While I agree with your points, I have no complaints. My cave looks amazing, my friends love playing them, as do I. Straight out of the box. I don't feel the need to upgrade. It just fills my need for some nostalgic fun, when I need that need filled, at a fraction of the price. Although I should point out, that I've never paid close to full price. Again, all of your points are completely valid, and you do address myself, as a type, I just thought I'd give my two cents on the subject.
  • @ravenspe
This is why I only buy them when they're discounted. By then, I know all the pros/cons and common or even necessary mods. Only then do I truly know the value proposition they offer.
  • @AlwaysLookEye
I think it's cool . Never thought I'd own a game cabinet. I have 5 of them. Yes they had there problems but it beats restoring a 40 year old cabinet.
  • @GymLeaderJack
The kool-aid wore off when they trippled the prices and the quality took a massive dive. The controls are cheap, the speakers are garbage, they're still using 14 inch displays when they should be at a 19 inch standard by now. If I'm paying $800/$900 for a 3/4 cabinet, it should be worth the $900. But, the quality has taken such a dive, I'm not interested in buying them anymore. I'm saving up for a legends ultimate, a1up by now should have opened a store front (since Gen 3 + have a micro SD card port) and started selling just the games to add to your cabinet instead of paying $800 for 2-5 games on 1 cabinet.
  • I picked up a Galaga and Final Fight from Walmart for $50 each at the start of Covid. Later that summer, I got a Street Fighter 2 Cocktail version for $150 from Costco (this was the display unit so it was "open box" but complete and working). I'd like to pick up a T2, Killer Instinct, or Simpsons, but not for the prices they are asking. Keep your eyes out for deals, don't pay full price.
  • My take on this! Real Arcade machines will have more problems down the line. I enjoy both - but I prefer Arcade1up for now. Reasons: The Weight of the machines. Being able to enjoy these games the way they should be played. The Killer Instinct Pro is going in the right direction and glad I got one.
  • 100 percent agree. By now, Arcade 1up products should be leaps and bounds better over their original releases.
  • @Jay_J
Keep in mind, the 3/4 scale is designed for home use, not too heavy, not too large, and more reliable than old school arcades. I agree the buttons and joysticks aren't the best. I swapped mine for Sanwa's. It's also possible to mod these, but the idea is to provide a multi-cade with authentic looking artwork and style, at a fraction of the cost of buying a 40 year old real arcade, even if the prices have basically doubled since they launched in 2018. Now as for that.... That's another issue altogether! Greed and lack of listening to their fan/install base
  • @mikeyyoon
8:22 9-months laterā€¦ you were 100% right haha. Rewatched this and itā€™s one of your best videos that everyone is finally coming around to agree with.
  • @BigRetroShow
I really don't blame you bro. I agree 100 percent with you. They are just too damn small, and the quality isn't up to par, and not made to withstand grown adults playing on them. It's a kid's toy, and a nostalgic trip. I admire you for speaking out on this topic. Amen about the people who don't even own an Arcade1up and getting in on the drama for clout and views. Well done sir.
  • @ZetZatar
I appreciate that your not "shill-ing" for them. So many other channels wont say anything negative because they NEED Arcade1up to be successful, because thats what their channel is predominately based on. They're to "ties-in" to the brand.
  • I've owned defender and star wars games a couple years now. There are 12 in 1, and 3 in 1 games. I made 4 inch risers to go under the 1up risers. They look more realistic and easier to play, love them. I own a huge heavy original defender cabinet that doesn't work. These hit the spot for nostalgic game play, lightweight and not space eaters. Clean working Defender can cost upwards of $1,800 and you need lot of help moving it for ONE game.
  • @MugenLord
Great video, I bought the Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2 Cabinet and I will say this. It will definitely be the last time I ever preorder from them ever again. Worst experience ever and the fact that they went radio silent after everyone got their Blitz Cab really says a lot about them as a company. I treat these as furniture that looks nice in my room setup so something aren't really a big deal but it doesn't excuse the fact that they treat their customers with no ounce of respect with their products. So I won't be buying another Cabinet until I see some improvements from them. I did an unboxing vid of the MVC2 Cab and even had to mod the sticks and buttons, you're right I just don't know why they can't just come out the box with better sticks and buttons, it baffles me. Subscribed!
  • @shazkhan9295
I agree with you, these things suck out of the box. However, they're perfect for someone like me who is essentially looking for a shell with artwork to mod out. I get most of mine when they're on clearance/used around $200-$300. At that price I can't get a cabinet with artwork and monitor anywhere else. But yes, it's infuriating how they cut corners for the out of box experience. At the very least they should spend a few extra dollars for better joystick/buttons.
  • @AllAboutTKK
Lol. Man I just subscribed to you. Real adult talking. You are funny as hell, and I donā€™t know if comedy was your attempt here but you executed, I mean I watched this entire video. The ā€œWTFā€ will image was golden with the guy playing on the Street Fighter. My opinion, they are literally toys.
  • @Razor_Burn
I started watching your content after seeing you on @therexershow and really enjoy the great content. Sadly your frank assessment is shared by the silent majority within the arcade community as Arcade1UP have constantly failed to deliver and cut way too many corners... Big respect from Australia!
  • @cwarner5909
I have to admit that I have had a nostalgic interest in these cabinets but once I got an opportunity to get some hands on time with a few of them I quickly realized that they are an expensive novelty at best. To each their own but for me I can't see myself spending enough time with them to justify the cost and they would quickly become something that is just taking up space in the room.
  • @BordersDude
You hit the nail in the head with these by saying its for a mancave or hobby room. Ideal for someone like myself who just dabbles in retro gaming has a huge nostalgic connection to the Konami 2d sidescrollers of the 90s. But to a retro gamer who is full into the hobby (like I am with transformers) they just won't meet the expectations. Great video explaining your thoughts man.
