Was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure almost 9 years ago. My Dr. Said I would be 9n dialysis by the end of the year. Went vegan and Im still not on dialysis. It works!

I had kidney disease and was headed for dialysis. My doctor advised me to lower my animal intake. Well how much is low enough, I thought, so that day I went Vegan. Within a year my kidneys were cured. I love to cook and I took this as an opportunity to learn new recipes and discover new ingredients. Iā€™ve had friends say if I was cooking for them, they could be Vegans. šŸ˜ƒ

This talk is excellent! Thank you, Dr. Hashmi! I was at Stage 2 kidney disease (my eGFR was 60). I brought it up to 100 by (1) decreasing the use of Fenofibrate (for cholesterol; apparently, it was interacting with the statin I was taking) and (2) adopting a whole foods, plant-based diet.
  • Iā€™m watching nowā€¦been on dialysis for 15 years & on a journey to heal my kidneys with help from God. Iā€™ve been called twice for transplants ONLY to have them fall through. Crazy, right?! The crazier thing is the Jesus has told me He will heal me. Hallelujah. Iā€™m watching now & interested in listening to your teaching. Also, God has me on a journey of NO animal products & ONLY what God made. REAL NON-PROCESSED FOODS. Iā€™m excited to hear what you have to sayā€¦watching as I type! Blessings to you & your family! Dr. Hashmi, thanks so much for the education. I am a 70 year old male and I was diagnosed with CKD 3 months ago. My Dr. strongly advised me to immediately start a plant based diet and to eat less red meat. My GFR was 29 and after one week of diet change it bumped up to 35. I made the decision to go 90% vegetarian and eat fish a couple times a week. Ater 2 1/2 months my GFR is up to 48 and headed in the right direction. My Dr. says I am on the way to regaining lost kidney function. I dropped several pounds and feel more energetic. Thanks again and I am a firm believer in what you are saying. The proof is in the bloodwork.

I followed a whole foods diet that included grains and plant foods. I felt terrible. I had constant sinus infections, kidney/bladder infections and felt so fatigued. A low protein diet made me feel awful. Iā€™ve gone back to carnivore with green vegetables and I feel wonderful with no infections and lots of energy. I believe everyone is different and one method doesnā€™t fit all. Find yours, listen to your body and get health checks along the way.

Good morning, I am on Dialysis since January 3, 2022. I am a vegetarian, normal blood pressure, no diabetes...healthy until January 2,2022 when I was Diagnosed with Kidney failure. Thank you for this information. I have learned more from you in this video than from the various Medical Professionals that have been treating me for the last 10 months.
  • Kidney disease has a lot of treatments today. Even stage 5 can improve today with kidney disease. I was in stage 4 Now i'm in stage 2. I have followed the channel of Katherine kidney and had great improvement in my kidney function drastically and lower in my creatinine levels thanks also to the very low protein diet and acacia fiber treatment. Low sodium and plant based.

My father in law ate a lot of meat his whole life through. Now he's 92 !!! Without kidney problems.
  • just discovered this 3 year old video of yours and I just appreciate you Dr Hashmi for your prevention stance. I am a dialysis nurse for almost 12+ years and have worked with a number of "nephrons' and I think you are just amazing . Your video has full of great information that I will certainly bring into my practice. What really caught my attention is when mentioned about sodium in dialysate bath that can be a cause of thirst for HD patients when they go home. I just believe it is about time that dialysis here in the US switch to the practice of using saline free dialysate bath; most have not even heard about it, but this is done in Canada and I believe some in Europe with a specific HD machine. Great lecture and will share this with my patients.

I have just experienced my first episode of AKI, shortly after I went back to a mostly vegetarian diet after 15 years of eating meat (nutritionist and Doctor ordered me to return to meat). I have always had a high soy consumption, don't eat a lot of sweets or salt, high fibre, unprocessed foods; other risk factors are also low. I'm utterly baffled. I will continue a low meat diet and lower sugar and salt and hope for the best with care from my nephron šŸ˜… Thanks for posting

Dr. Hashmi! Thank you for caring and taking the time to talk. I have learned more from you than a boatload of doctors in Massachusetts. They told me I have kidney disease, but no one has the time or the interest to talk with me about it.
  • @joyfriedberg
I went full Vegan and cured my kidney disease without pills and before I was at dialysis stage. Itā€™s been 7 years. Iā€™m 72 and my kidney hunt is over 90% which is great for my age.

Man, I love this guy! So clear, concise, to the point & he inspires! šŸ™

Amazing! You are incredible. This was incredible. Thank you for being a good person first and foremost and thank you for being a very good doctor and for speaking facts. We need more doctors like you on this planet. Greetings from Ireland šŸ’›šŸŒ±
  • What a fantastic talk! Dr Hashmi is not only brilliant, he's engaging to listen to with his humor. As a NP, I am thrilled to hear about ways to prevent kidney disease advancement with food. Thank-you Dr Hashmi. You have a new subscriber, as does Michele Crosmer, RD.
  • My nephrologist told me not to change anything about diet. It's sad how many bad doctors exist.
