Blake lip syncing this song in a pub was one of my favourite scenes in the movie

I’ve been listening to this song on repeat for like two days

Fabulous tune from my youth. What a voice! RIP Mary Weiss!
  • I'm glad that Amy Winehouse's back to black movie brough me here!! Love this kind of music❤❤❤
  • The part where the lead singer sings her first sentence "i met him at the candy store" with the bass drum thump underneath her vocal is possibly the most perfect moment in the history of Pop music. It`s so beautiful it actually makes me cry.

Jimmy couldn't have been a very hard core biker if he hung out at the candy store.

Right in the middle of Beatlemania these girls score a number 1 hit... Kudos.

RIP the three members of The Shangri-Las Mary Ann Ganser (February 4, 1948 – March 14, 1970), aged 22 Marguerite “Marge” Ganser (February 4, 1948 – July 28, 1996), aged 48 Mary Weiss (December 28, 1948 – January 19, 2024), aged 75 You will be remembered as legends.
  • Why aren't they in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Seriously, their songs were like mini-operas, full of drama and heartbreak, and that lead singer had quite a powerful voice to be so young. Remember (Walking in the Sand), Leader of the Pack, Give Him a Great Big Kiss, Out in the Streets, I Can Never Go Home Anymore ... teen angst at its best.

Those were the days.. the dude on the bike is working so hard not to laugh, and so are the girls.

I was born in the ‘80s. Growing up in the Chicago area with baby boomer parents, my dad constantly had Oldies 104.3 on. I was familiar with all the hits of the ‘50s-‘60s before I was even 10 years old. “Leader of the Pack” was always my absolute favorite and I’d get so excited when that intro came on. Later I would buy the Shang’s material on CD and fell in love with many more of their songs. I hope younger people are continuing to discover this group. RIP Mary Weiss. One of the original “bad girls” with an unmistakable voice.

RIP Mary.....remember my mom playing these tunes when she would take us cruising about town.

The guy on the motorcycle is Robert Goulet. A very big singing star on live stage in the 1960s. The motorcycle is a 50cc Honda. The whole thing is supposed to be funny.

I get that times have changed, but I've never seen somebody look LESS tough on a motorcycle. Good luck, Jimmy - RIP Mary.

This song has such a happy tune to it. If you actually listened to it you'd hear that it's actually dark af. Nothing like someone driving reckless on a rainy night due to having their heart broken, then she blamed herself for his death that's so dark.

My grandma used to play this in the car when I was a kid. One of my favorite songs. 2 years ago she passed and this song brings me to tears remembering her
