U.S. Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 214, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, prepare U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II aircraft with VMFA-214, 3rd MAW Deploy to CLark Air Base, Philippines for Joint MASA 24.

Marine Aviation Support Activity (MASA) 24, an annual Philippine-U.S. military exercise focused on mutual defense, strengthening relationships, and rehearsing emerging aviation concepts, is scheduled to take place in the Philippines from June 3-21, 2024.

Philippine and U.S. service members will conduct a range of interoperability training events consistent with the Mutual Defense Treaty, Visiting Forces Agreement, and the supplemental Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement.

These mutual agreements support continued long-term modernization efforts, increased maritime security, and improved humanitarian assistance capabilities in response to natural disasters in the Philippines.

As a testament to MASA’s combined and joint nature, the United States Marine Corps, Air Force, Army, and Philippine Marine Corps, Air Force, and Naval Air Wing will all participate in this exercise. From northern Luzon to Palawan, scheduled training includes a littoral live-fire exercise, forward arming and refueling of aircraft, maritime key terrain security operations, and other aviation support operations.

This training will reinforce Philippine-U.S. cooperation and continue strengthening their commitment to each other as friends, partners, and Allies.

Philippine and U.S. forces will also partner for subject matter expertise exchanges across a variety of military activities, including integrated air missile defense, close air support, explosive ordnance disposal, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN) training, health services, and more. Bringing Philippine and U.S. service members together for exercises like MASA 24 develops lifelong friendships and connections that strengthen the partnership between both countries and increases regional peace and stability.

The F 35 planes are used by the US AIR FORCE, US NAVY and US MARINE CORPS. This marine squadron is based off IWAKUNI, JAPAN. The marines are not land based, they are part of an amphibious group comprised of the navy and the marines. I have served in the US NAVY from 1988 to 2008. I was one of the blessed ones recruited from SUBIC BAY. My first ship was the USS RANGER CV 61. We had a complement of NAVY and MARINE CORPS pilots onboard and my ship was part of DESERT STORM inside the PERSIAN GULF. My second ship was the USS ESSEX LHD 2. This is an amphibious ship comprised of navy and marines. Our aircraft consisted of the AV 8 HARRIER w/c can take off and land vertically and are being replaced by the F 35 w/c also can land and take off vertically. This is the difference between the F 35 of the AIR FORCE and NAVY w/c has no such capability. The ESSEX also has the MV 22 OSPREY, the VIPER, SUPER STALLION etc. This are all MARINE AIR CRAFT flown by US MARINES. The NAVY and MARINES work together for a very effective fighting force. Please have your facts straight so as not to confuse those civilians who don’t know the difference. TOP GUN NAVAL AIR STATION MIRAMAR in San Diego is now a MARINE CORPS AIR STATION and they fly F18, F 35, MV 22 OSPREY and all sorts of rotary wing aircraft. And yes I am from San Diego.

To have F35s deployed to the Philippines and manned by the highly trained, skilled and experienced USMC is an honor. The most advanced fighter aircraft in the world that’s mostly accessible to NATO member countries. And perhaps a handful few of Asian countries. It’s a single engine but very powerful. And it lands vertically like a helicopter 🚁 Please take good care of our men in uniform 🇺🇸🙏, Philippines coz those are our highly-prized possessions.
  • AMERICA THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PROTECT US GOD BLESS USA AND PHILIPPINES ❤❤❤
