The first in a trilogy (check out the sequel, "Brief Candle", at    • Brief Candle  ) of screendance films about our tug-of-war with wilderness. Here we explore a building's decay. The choreography and original score are both in decrescendo to illustrate the building's retreat from the physical world, and Nature's advance on it.

Imagine if you're walking in the wilderness and find an abandoned building and when you look through a window you see this woman in black just dancing by herself. I would tip toe the hell out of there.

This is the proof that dance can be everything, as long as there is real emotion behind it. It's really, really amazing
  • @compostwise
How the trees are crowded at the dusty windows to watch this beautiful human communicating with art in dance.
  • @astarryeyedgirl
She is SO good. Just completely evocative in her expression. Creepy yet compelling. Liminal. Well done.
  • she is interpreting feeling of a bird in a prison......nice choreography....
  • @GinnyWilkerson
I did not realize this was about urban decay and how nature takes over afterward. I thought it was about some kind of emotional pain, especially when the pieces of paint fall on her. She looks like she's given up at the end. Beautiful!

I relate to that scratching and circling in dust. Anxious, forgetting what you're doing, starting something else ,then remembering that you're doing something else. Circles and circles and not getting anywhere
  • @cat1106
This is what anxiety feels like.
  • @drpsionic
The relationship between the dancer and the environment was perfect.
  • @mikyboo
The choreography is so amazing, because the only details they gave is the title and still we understand the dance and it's story. So talented.
  • @hyliadreamer
Lovely. There's an eerie beauty to this, between the dilapidation of the building, and the unearthliness of the choreography. I'm so glad I saw this!
  • @LuLuBell
I am not really into contemporary dance, but that was beautiful, easy to understand between the dance and music. Dorothea is amazing!! Hope I spelled her name right.
  • @ladyred6994
This video is absolutely stunning, she conveyed the message well in her dance.
  • All composition is perfect: choreography, music, the place, light! Amazing work! Thanks for this beautiful gift! The world need art!
