The Chateau doesn’t give up secrets easily

Phil, you need to have a moat clearing party with all your pals. One weekend would change that whole problem into a pleasure. 😊
  • Never mind Phil the ivy needed clearing. The ground penetrating radar sounds just up your street or down your tunnel🤣🤣👏👏👏👏🥳🥳
  • Your “one handed filming skills” are amazing Phil!!! Good job…the terrace area is lovely and maybe another day more of the secret will be revealed about the tunnel!!
  • There's something quite satisfying about pulling ivy off walls. Take care. X❤😊

I always scan old photographs and then blow them up on screen. You can see more details that looking at the postcard. 600dpi minimum. Always exciting.
  • LOVE the old pics of the chateau, esp showing the missing wing! Glad you found the entrance to whatever it is! Ivy...ggrrrr!
  • I love how you have wonderful adventures while living alone. We don't need people around us all the time.
  • It is so good to see you enjoying yourself again. Keep it up. You are special 💖 and deserve the best. Your surrogate grandmother.
  • Hello Phil. I spent my day today cutting out a bush full of 40yo ivy and I felt that I should pass on a recommendation. I got a 18v Dewalt Power Pruner just to have a go and did not expect much but it was just amazing. It was one of the moments when you say to your self why did I not buy this a decade ago. Anyway I do not know if you have one but I can fully suggest that you might have a look at one. I am not getting paid or sponsored in any way I just was blown away by how easy pruning became with this tool. To me it is an absolute must have.
  • I’m sure that is a ventilation hole for the tunnel system. May not be backfilled, but clogged with years of flooding and ivy growth. Don’t be too disappointed. It’ll be work, but it’ll be cool!
  • Hey Phil, I hope you can discover something when the Ivy is cleared, it would be so cool if it were the tunnels. Looking so forward to your next video. Love from N.Y.
  • I think you should go in the boat more often Phil, as that was glorious!! 😃

Would have been so satisfying to see you pull the ivy off the wall from the water's side. Job done.

It could be that the moat was filling up the tunnels with silt over the decades of neglect from occasional flooding of moat and the former owners not maintaining it, as usually is the case. I'm a One man show too so I do not start projects unless Its absolutely necessary and getting anything done is a chore that takes longer and or cost twice as much because I would have to hire it to be done quickly . good luck and .....Crack on ! one more question how deep is the gravel over the old foundation (terrace) and are there any foundation stones or flag stones below the gravel ?
  • @QueenChatty1
The terrace is looking lovely. I especially love the Hydrangeas.

You have a great foundation for a lovely conservatory! Have you ever thought about building one?
