Regardless, the internal components deserve analysis and discussion, as does the build quality and quality of assembly. The Walmart DTW3, DTW2, and DTW1 machines were already clearly overpriced, even for a system integrator, but it gets worse the more we dig into it. This is the kind of machine that a parent buys for their kid to play Fortnite, and Walmart still manages to screw it up.

And if this pushes you to build your own system instead, we're here to help. Try starting with our Best CPUs of 2018 guide:    • Awards: Best CPUs of 2018 (Gaming, Pr...

Walmart will know something is fishy because it will be put back together better than how they shipped it.

You have to look at it this way: someone probably got a 1080 Ti and 32 Gigs for 1399 $.

"This could, for example, not exist." My new favourite quote. I am definitely stealing that.
  • You paid 2k for a 1080ti and didnt even get it. Sounds like Walmart

imagine paying $1400 for a PC and then you get 1 slot stick RAM
  • Yes paid for a $2100 dollar computer that was worth about 900, and got a 1400 dollar computer that was worth about 400. Sounds like a great deal lol

Pufferfish is a pretty accurate mascot to have for this. It buffs up to look bigger and tougher than it actually is.

Weird how 2 years ago, real time ray tracing was a myth and buying GPUs was easy.

Great Wall psu, that doesn't scream cheap Chinese at all.

Did Walmart collaborate with The Verge on this?

I'm suspicious that whoever builds these may be swapping out for parts they want to take home...

7:54 the concerning thing is whos parents are going to pay 2100$ for their kid to play fortnite?
  • "Unlike real time ray tracing our merch actually exists." I love you Steve.

Damn. At least I got the product I ordered from them, but it's not without its own quirks as you'll see. Thanks for the mention, and great video!

Imagine how many unknowing customers have overpaid for a more expensive machine and didn't know any better. They probably do it on purpose. I bet half their customers would never know.
