Our First Time in Ireland didn't go to plan... (Don't Do This!)

Our first time travelling in Ireland was a far wilder experience than we expected. We travelled to the far west of the Republic of Ireland, to County Kerry, to hike the beautiful Dingle Peninsula. Our plan was to walk 110 miles (180 kilometres) in 8 days, but, a twist of Julia's ankle meant our plans had to change, and what happened after was one of our scariest experiences since leaving to travel full time. This adventure through Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way is a rather crazy one to say the least.

Well, that was a week we’ll never forget 😅 Also, posting this week didn’t go to plan either, we couldn’t quite make our usual posting day of Saturday but, what do we think of Wednesday evening videos? 😍😌

I am a well travelled Englishman (over 50 countries outside the UK). Favourite country to visit? Ireland, hands down. Love it. Sorry for Cromwell, Black and Tans etc, understand how some Irish people may feel about me.

I know it didn't turn out as planned, but I'm glad you still got to experience Ireland. The Cliffs of Moher is my favorite place I've ever traveled.

  • OMG!! This was amazing! Sorry for how the trip started but I am glad you both got out of there safely. At least the weather held to its routine as it rains a lot. lol. Loved the scenery. Those cliffs where the lighthouse were amazing! So glad you had a great time and were safe.

I love a good chowder, too! As per Google: The word chowder is a corruption of the French chaudière (“cauldron”), and chowder may have originated among Breton fishermen who brought the custom to Newfoundland, whence it spread to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and New England.

The Irish accent is contagious. Every time I heard the accent, I felt compelled to respond with an Irish accent ("I'll have a point of the black stoff"). My wife finally said, "Stop doing that! You sound like a Lucky Charms commercial."

I love your flexibility. You went from walking camping to driving, walking, camping with ease. Thank you for sharing your scary experience. Hopefully it will serve as a guide to people who might find themselves in a situation like that. Beautiful scenery.
  • I love you guys!! You have both inspired my husband and I to travel more. So far Georgia is at the top our our list. You showed me that most beautiful country ❤️
