Had a little bit of a struggle because of how heavy the hay is right now but we got through it alright.

Something very calming watching you cut grass that way. Thanks for taking the time as always to let us tag along. I know that it's a lot of work for you to do it.

Boy I enjoyed watching that sickle mower. I have mowed a lot of acres with one of those. Ours was an IH 27V sometime I get nostalgic but I'm also glad for my old haybine. The crimper is pretty neat too

Looks good we got about 30 acres cut and bailed still have about 50 more but lots of rain in the forecast. Uncle bought a new jd c350 disk mower this year to replace his 835. They’ve over doubled in price between 2007-2023. Not really much to em for all the money you pay. Surprisingly it was cheaper than the new holland from what I saw.

My grandpa ran a Oliver 77 with a New Holland semi-mount sickle mower kind of like the one you are using and we ran 3rd gear too (depending on the grass)...the only problem was we were usually on two different tractors, a Super 88 diesel and that 77 gas, and the Super 88 was slower in the same gear, so eventually one would have to pass the other on the big fields.

Looks very good. Always nice to watch the old sickle bars go at it. The old timers did move along with those. I remember Dad saying that Grandpa with his Farmall H would mow in 4th gear. I tried it with mine, I'm more comfortable in 3rd. Lol. Then a friend of the family ran a John Deere 50 and sickle bar in 5th gear. Im thinking, jeez these guys are booking. I can't remember the mower models at the moment. Glad the damage to the crimper is minor to what it could be. Always seems to be the way with hay. Never know what you're gonna find in there.
  • Looks like you are gonna have some good hay, we are gonna have our second cutting here probably in a week. Pretty cool to see the crimper in action. I've never seen one

Good job on the hay Ethan, there is something therapeutic amount hay work, as long as things don’t tear up😁I know, very rare, but anyway keep em comin OFB🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
  • You’ve really transformed those friends. Nice looking hay crop too! Thanks for showing us how to make hay the Oliver way!
  • Your mower and crimper did a really good job Ethan a credit to you

Great video. Lots of really good hay looks like. 3rd gear was a good idea get the hay to fall back away from sickle bar. Made the 77 sound really cool!
