I was just informed that Sinatar (whose clip I briefly used when discussing NOB) passed away in late 2021. I wasn't previously familiar with his work, but like Pete Dorr, his streams ALWAYS came up while I was doing research for this video, and I always took a 10 minute break to watch him play. He seemed like a real likable guy and I admire his dedication in grinding through these arcane 3DO games. I just wanted to give my condolences to his family, friends & fans if any of them happen across this video. May he rest in peace.

The fact that theres not only RPGs on this system, but japanese exclusive titles made me double take. What an absolutely strange time the early 90s were.
  • @YakiAttaki
I regret to inform everyone that since this video was made, the 'not the olympic swimmer' note on guardian war's wikipedia page has been removed.

Just from the clips in the video, your take on Blue Forest Story is basically correct, but bringing the offerings to the shrine isn't a coming of age thing, and the girl (Suzuna) is his little sister. I'll translate the bits that the translation app mangled, with some notes: Temuzen: "Hmph, so you're finally awake. Seriously, when it comes to you... you should be a little more like Suzuna." Varuerusu: "Yes..." - - (A Latin alphabet spelling of his name could be anything from Varuerus to Varuels to Varwells to Val-Eluth) Temuzen: "Good enough. There is something I need you to do." "Go to the shrine and deliver offerings for the Forest God" - - (The "and ride" probably comes from the auxiliary verb "kuru" that really means "and come back", or literally just "come") "I'm just saying this to make sure: Do not eat the offerings." - - (Literally it would be "steal and eat" or "steal-eat", which is a bit like "sneak a bite") "(Helps) Bad" -> (Explanation) 1/1 - - (At the shop you can buy, sell, or ask for an explanation about the items) "Fang extraction" -> Defanging (i.e. weakening) powder "Easy" -> Simple/crude/convenient/single-use tent To wrap up the "go to the shrine" arc: The priest tells you that someone stole ornaments from the statue of the goddess.
  • For AD&D Slayer, the reason why you can just choose whatever stats you want is so that players can import the characters of themselves or friends from either tabletop AD&D or one of the other AD&D-based video games. ...Alternatively, you can use it as sort of difficulty setting.
  • Immediately and remorselessly shirking my work duties to watch another Majuular videographic masterpiece
  • @rocky38964
The quality of Guardian War's music genuinely shocked me. I was NOT expecting a 3DO game to rock so hard.

When my employees ask me for things, I have begun to ask them: "Do you have the flask of Tefnut?"

The graphics, sound, and gameplay in this video are exceptional, state of the art, and a technical marvel. Overall rating of 69
  • @SimonMurphy67
"The field of view is presented in glorious four by three glaucoma vision." This line fucking obliterated me, thank you. Fine work on this one Maj.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU!!! My father used to play Dragon Lore when I was little and I've been trying to remember the name of the game for years! 😊
  • Robinson's Requiem sounds like someone who had a vision of BoTW but only had a 3DO to outlet it with lol. The emergent connections between items remind me of it
  • @filip7133
Makes me wonder if Immercenary was in at least some way an inspiration for Cruelty Squad's graphical design. Amazing video as usual!
  • An hour and 40 minutes detailing obscure, largely forgotten early 3D games on a console I have yet to see with my own eyes? Another Majuular masterpiece. Huge fan of these videos. I am sure these videos take tons of time to compile so thank you.

Personally I’m fascinated by that weird period before the ps1/Saturn with consoles like 3do, jaguar, Amiga cd and Phillips cdi. Hope to see more in that weird area.
  • @ExoCade
Dude when I was a kid my uncle in New York apparently had gotten a 3d0 and a bunch of games like alone in the dark, soccer kid, etc, and it apparently "fell off a truck lol" anyways after he had fun with it he sent it to my mom and us for Christmas and this video is fucking whiplash for me. I had the fz10 model and it was such a badass machine with wierd controllers that daisy chain. Good memories
  • You've actually refined your comedic timing to near perfection, the Seal of the Pharoah section completely killed me. I feel like you are gonna gain popularity at blazing speed.
  • Theory for AD&D Slayer: the ability to customize your stats with impunity might be the developers accounting for D&D players with preexisting tabletop characters who might want to self insert, it would make sense to allow you to make yourself as strong or weak as want.
  • @bilbo1778
NGL - if I had a rich friend that owned a 3DO back in 1993 most of these games would have blown my mind…
