Cam Newton's opinion matters, but Joe Montana and Steve Young's opinion doesn't? This is getting ridiculous.
  • @audience7264
If Purdy wasn’t so successful they wouldn’t be talking about him all the time.
  • @DavefromCA2023
I'd take Purdy over Garopollo in a superbowl any day of the week, lets try this again.

    Really? Purdy's number didn't scream as MVP? Purdy is #1 rated QB this season. QBR - 72.7 (t1st) Passer Rating - 113.0 (1st) Yards/Attempt - 9.6 (1st, best in last 20y, far surpassed all others ) EPA/play - 0.360 (1st) CPOE - 5.4 (1st) Comp Air Yards/Attempt - 5.0 (1st) Comp % - 69.4% (2nd) Passing Yards - 4,280 (5th) Passing TDs - 31 (3rd) On deep passes (20+ air yards): 20.0 yards per attempt on deep passes (#1) 12 deep pass TDs (#1) 62.3% deep-pass completion% (#1)

Watch the games, fellas. Your eyes will tell you that Purdy is miles better than Jimmy G. Not even a debate.
  • @VegasRey
His numbers didn't scream MVP? Purdy had the best statistical season of any QB in the NFL this season, by almost every measure. Now he's playing in the Super Bowl and is the main reason for that.
  • @StarsDie88
Kurt Warner -- Super Bowl winner, Hall of Famer and former MVP has the exact opposite opinion of Brock Purdy than does Cam Newton. And Kurt has every reason to not be in the pocket for a 49er, as he played on rivals of the 49ers (Rams and Cardinals). I think Kurt Warner's opinion holds significantly more merit than does Cam Newton's opinions.

Let's not forget Purdy's salary ($1,004,252}. He's by far the best value player in the NFL. He's a Pro Bowler, saving the 49ers a ton of cap. Other GMs can only dream about that situation.
  • @StinkyPinky007
You guys don’t know why he’s up for MVP?! His stats don’t really say it? How bout cuz HE LED THE LEAGUE IN ALMOST ALL PASSING STATS.
  • @StarsDie88
Brock Purdy's numbers 100% were the best QB numbers in 2023. I have no idea what this guy is talking about. His passer rating dwarfed everyone elses. You can say that his numbers were inflated due to his team; there's definitely an argument to be made considering that QB numbers are not super precise and advanced in such a way to control for things like how good a QB's personnel is. But that's an inherent issue with the MVP award in general, as the general rule has been to give the MVP to the QB that has the best numbers, as long as the team he's on made it to the playoffs. Purdy qualifies for both of those things, but now everyone wants to change the general rule because it's him.
  • @PartTimeDrift
Purdy has made these analysts look like amateur hour. Now it’s let’s trash the guy until we are proven right.
  • @snowhawk04
Rich clearly misremembers last year. There was definitely an anti-Purdy crowd last year with those on the Lance train and those that didn't think Purdy deserved ROTY off 5 games. The discussions on how far Brock would have to take the 49ers to keep the starting job was toxic too.
  • @GopherBaroque61
I don't agree with Scott on Cam Newton. The dude only had 2 good years and been living off that glory ever since. As Warren Sapp said, Cam was a glorified Running Back. But think about this. Cam Newton lost his job to Mac Jones... We're talking about MAC JONES okay? ALSO that was CRAP how he reasoned that there wasn't anyone else to be considered MVP, so Brock Purdy was the next best thing. Oh, STFU, Scott. Brock Purdy was breaking records all season until the Ravens game. He LEAD the NFL is several major QB categories and Scott is just flat out ignoring that.
  • @miniharez
It’s great because now people only have two quarterbacks to focus on right now, now people are going to get to analyze Brock Purdy, and see how much of an elite quarterback he really is, he’s about to get his praise coming to him this week🤘
  • @D-vo6wi
After watching the games against Detroit and Green Bay, my opinion has changed from he’s not as good as Joe Montana yet,,,, to, ok he’s there.I’ve seen what I needed to see. No matter what happens in the Super Bowl, Purdy is the QB for the Niners of today. He’s got Shanahan’s game plan and Griese in his ear. Together-they make a Bill Walsh. If he don’t have some major injury happen, he’s THE GUY. When you see Purdy, you say NINERS! It’s no longer can Purdy be as good as Joe, it’s,,,,here comes Purdy, look out!
  • @jamiereinig
SVP hit on it with one word - "nuance" Purdy is still a young QB, he sometimes makes some bad throws. And he also makes some incredible throws. He seems to be reading defenses really well for such a young guy, his pocket awareness is often overlooked, and his poise is off the charts. There's nuance here - I really enjoy watching Brock play but see plenty of room to him to grow. He's got a GREAT team around him, and I am looking forward to a great SB fiddy-eight!
  • I wonder if these kind of people wrote off Joe Montana when he turned the ball over like 4 or 5 times in the Catch game against Dallas?
  • @CriticalxMiss
I think it's because he played the full year, so people are seeing his numbers beat their fav top QBs and it makes people feel like they need to push against it.
