In 1600, a powerful leader of Japan dies in Osaka. Power is given to 5 regents, but one of them decides to take over the country, becoming its sole ruler. At this moment, a Dutch ship arrives to the shores of Japan, only it is the first time the Japanese encounter a country other than Portugal.     John never returns to his homeland . The scene with him as an old man was a dream sequence of his possible future . In this scene he still possesses Mariko's rosary beads , which we later see him drop into the bay.

    Mistake to say we are shown how Blackthorne lives to a ripe old age. It was a hallucination while he was concussed from the explosion which killed Mariko.

    Throughout the series id thoroughly appreciated Toranagas plans in seeing John as the educator for expansion beyond Japanese shores.. talk about backing ones intelligence

    Such a poor remake of the 1980's version and book as well. I knew it was going to be woke AF watching the trailers but they ruined the project with all the wokeness.
