My father went back into the Texas prison system his last time while over the age of 60 , with a life sentence and died as a prisoner with terminal cancer and all I remember him saying as a kid is “If you can’t do the time , don’t do the crime “ , stop committing crimes, we all get angry and could take it a step further sometimes but it’s not worth it , its so easy to just do the right thing and have peace , think before you act

Mental healthcare in the U.S., even with private insurance, is almost non-existent for the average citizen. Would be strange to put the focus on giving better care to people after they've been convicted of an offense, than before they commit the offense. Imagine being the family member of a murder victim and finding out that the murderer was being provided free and better mental health care than you are offered dealing with the violent death of a loved one. As someone that has tried private mental health care and public mental health care, the solutions are exactly the same. Take drugs daily and spend 15 minutes talking about how you are feeling each time (or every other time) you go to pick up refills. If the drugs aren't working or making every thing worse, we'll switch you to a different med. The only difference between now and 50 years ago, is that now, you are given the option to work through it and 50 years ago you'd check into a mental ward with similar facilities to a modern day prison without the work detail. Mental healthcare isn't science. They don't do bloodwork. They don't analyze your DNA. They don't do MRI scans on brain activity. They just put you on drugs in hopes they temporarily relieve symptoms until your body becomes resistant to them then put you on a new drug. cha ching

Pretending like our offenders and prisoners are the same as Norway. But he was telling the truth about prison being known for freezing men in time. They go away for 10-20yrs and come out looking like they’ve barely aged. But in the same breath they were saying the exact opposite lol. It must be a mighty slow news day.

The mental illness system is failing lots of people no wonder why their so many homeless people with no help . The system is broken for real . I’m fighting a battle of ptsd got 4 yrs and still have anxiety issues . I’ve been to mental hospital 5 times the meds helped a lot but ptsd is something to no reckon . Been there and seen what’s goes on in the mental institution

I never thought about this, that's horrible

It starts with poor example and lenient discipline in schools and home. If you don’t want to die in prison, make dam sure you don’t commit crimes. I can’t blame the system, I blame the criminal. Why isn’t BLM teaching “don’t commit crimes?” If they really cared about their brothers, they would teach the value and importance of education and good character instead of BS “defund the police”. Ridiculous.
  • I have 4 neighbors 2 Mexican children kindergarten age and 2 black children highschool age, the 2 highschool age children just beat up the 2 kindergarten age children for a soccer ball I purchased for the children, I am sure these 2 Northshore students will be joining the prison population, maybe it's a cultural problem, no consequences for their crimes
