Splashin' Safari is the affiliated water park with Holiday World. This attached water park is unique for having three award-winning water coasters (Wildebeest, Mammoth, Cheetah Chase) and no body slides. This water park has been named the world's best water park by several magazines and websites, but is the world water coaster capital worthy of that title? Find out in this review!

  • I've been to nearly every water park in the country and Splashin Safari is easily my favorite. Just incredible.
  • Even though everyone wants more thrilling rides I love the ones the water park already has my mom and I have a tradition of riding watubee first together once it opens for the day 😊 I love Bakuli zinga and the wave pools ❤

This place is so amazing I can’t get enough of it. Love only being 3 hours away

HW used to have an adult body slide. At the entrance of Splashin Safari, there used to be two slides. One was called Bamboo Chute and the other was AmaZOOM. Both opened in 1993, according to Wikipedia. AmaZOOM was an enclosed blue body slide and required no tubes. I remember going on it as a kid (in the early 2000s) and there was no tubes required, as they would've been entirely too big for the slide itself. (It was accompanied by another slide, Bamboo Chute, an open-top white slide that required tubes.) The sides used to go over the old lazy river, which was located between the locker plaza. (This is why the lockers are spread so far apart.) They since closed that lazy river because they had built another one under Bakuli. I believe the slides were taken out first and then the old lazy river was filled in afterwards. (RIP to the mushroom in the old lazy river, you will be missed.) I believe the slides were relocated to the camping ground, but I cannot confirm, as I have never been to the campground. The slides were located where the First Aid station is now. I can see why they got rid of it, but it seems disappointing that they got rid of their only body slide. The reason why it seems like Cheetah Chase seems crammed into its current location is because there used to be an old water playground there named Monsoon Lagoon. It opened in 2004/2005, when I was around 6. It ended up getting torn down because it was irreparable, I believe. There is a newer water playplace named Kima Bay. I believe it was built in 2007 and opened the 2008 season. I was able to go inside it though, so I was at least an older child when it was built. It just seems really weird that they built one water playplace and built another almost two years later.
  • I love their 3 water coasters. Those alone make this waterpark stand out. Unfortunately, that's all I really care to do here. I don't care much for raft or tube slides. Beyond water coasters, I'm all about body slides, and the 0 body slides here is a massive gap for me, making the waterpark feel very incomplete. It doesn't really bother me, since I can just spend more time riding the roller coasters.

I do wish they would make an exception to their no body slides practice and add a drop slide. It's really the one thing this park is missing. I love slides like Summit Plummet and Deep Water Dive and think something on that scale would complement their other slides very well. They could put it up on the hill near Legend and have you drop through the various other structures in that area. I know that would be super difficult logistically but it would be awesome.

This review made me shoot this park up on my bucket list as if it wasn’t high enough already

Honestly I think having that mentality of each slide added to be an experience together, that actually make sense and they should strive to do that. However if they want to keep that mentality and add a body slide to it, well maybe a multi racing Aqualoop similar to the one at Blue Bayou could be a great fit. However I don’t mind the lack of body slides as for the most part yes Holiday World has a point on them being alone. Adding the social experience can make a ride from being great to being something special and important.

  • @Adar512
Man I must tell ya all, I can’t wait to ride Kondaa, it seems like a top tier coaster
  • I love Holiday World it's one of my favorite Amusement Parks! It's only 1 hour and 30 minutes from where I live so I try to go at least once a year. If I had more time and money I'd go more often.
  • The first time I went to Holiday World, it was amazing, I went on a school field trip last year. A few months later I went again with my family and I did not really enjoy Splashin' Safari. I like The Legend though, probably my favorite wooden coaster.

I am not a big water park guy as water slides don't do much for me. I do like wave polls cause even those give me more airtime than water slides but this one is actually worth going to. They have 3 water coasters that all probably give good forces and a mat racer. And those are water slides I actually really enjoy.
