The largest vehicle you can drive on a car licence, the Chevy Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty, has just been facelifted for a mid-2024 update.
Fresh enhancements include bolder front-end styling and a retuning of the monstrous Duramax 6.6-litre turbo-diesel V8 engine, which offers 350kW and a whopping 1322Nm.
Available in a single high-spec grade from $163,000 before on-roads, the big Chevy can tow up 4500kg (with a road licence) and offers a host of bespoke features and tech to bolster its impressive towing capabilities.
Huge, comfy and luxurious, we find out whether the massive 6.4-metre behemoth truly is the king of the open road.

I just purchased one absolutely amazing lovely to drive

These are bang for buck if youre intending on towing. Isuzu Trucks with the All Terrain Warrior upgrades are between 150k - 200k Likewise with Canter, Iveco and Hino. They have more carrying capacity than a 200-300 series Cruisers and Y62 Patrol and price for that matter and of course the top branded utes we have here. Definitely a win for the Chev 2500!

Absolutely love the vehicle . I exhibit at most the the Agricultural field days across Australia and I’ve spoken to plenty of owners already . I hear Nothing but praise for this beast. The first thing most will say to me is : Don’t buy a RAM … Buy one of these .

You could tow a small town with that much torque. The 6.6 Diesel V8 is the star of the show. I'd definitely buy it. Yeah parking it around town will be a headache but all things considered, it's worth it.

This would be perfect vehicle to tow my jetski around.
-
I'm buying tattslotto and powerball tonight 😂😂
-
I got cutoff last week in my Silverado 1500, time to trade it in for one of these

Thanks for sharing. I reckon this big truck has a better value for money than the Toyota LC300. Why? Because this truck offers a bus's engine!!!

I am excited to see that Australia is finally getting into "serious" US pick-up trucks, but I think you are missing out by not getting to use all of the ability this truck has to offer. For example, in the US the Silverado 2500HD has an available option called the "Max Towing Package", which actually outfits the truck with a 1-ton (3500HD) frame, suspension and running gear for even more capacity/capability. Imagine being able to tow a 9000+ kg on the hitch or 10,000kg on a gooseneck/5th-wheel hitch in the bed with this truck...

Thought my 88k was a lot USA….wow mine is a high country……midnight edition….absolute love it!!!..my 6.2 LTZ scared me with the possibly dropping Valve as noted in the 20 trucks!!!
-
Definitely a rig worth buying for towing caravans....not like those toy Thai utes. Merica!!!
-
I look forward to seeing one on Mt Speculation Track!

I own a 2006 Silverado 2500hd 6.6 Duramax. I'm presently have a new frame installed. I absolutely love this vehicle. The new ones a awsome but way out of my pocket book.

Would be good to see standard testing info like 0-100 and 80-120 overtaking. Also your camera man needs to actually filming the things you’re talking about with the storage section. Looking at the storage bin lid shows the viewer nothing

Nice truck , would have one if I could afford it.
-
It's absolutely a towing weapon, but at $170k you can buy a hilux/ranger and an around-town car and a little boat and campground fees and diesel and a ton of beers for a year.
-
ha ha they would've loved that test in Bradman's Ave, Maroochydore, streets there have barely enough space width with the shoulder parking on both sides. Then add cyclists!
-
the more of these here the better and the f150 is half this size
-
Just put on a set of 35s on for offroading 👍👍👍👍

Man, whats with that side step? The Aussie's put wings on the bed.
