Hey everyone todays video is all about a list of mansions that as so cheap, anyone could buy them. These homes either have a chilling back story, need a bunch of work, need to be demolished or have some sort of catch. Mansions or large houses of these size do not sell for this cheap usually but if you're willing to renovate them or put in the extra work these houses are a complete steal. The mansions mentioned in this video are still for sale and if you have any questions about them be sure to message me on instagram ‪@kylemcgran‬

This Housing market collapse might end up being a part of us for a very long time. With inflation currently at about 9%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about $300k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.

I was offered a 50 million dollar mansion with 25 acres for 150k, catch was the property assessment and back taxes, tax on it was like 90k a year. Belonged to a drug kingpin that got busted. Saw some other good deals, property haunted. Other issues, old places got asbestos issues, lead pipes, rotten wood, leaky ceiling, can’t change too much if Historical buildings, all sorts of restrictions, there is a reason why it is selling so cheap lol.

The Decatur Illinois home is sold. The lake Charles home is sold. Victorian home in Ohio is sold. The Ashland Kentucky home removed their listing. The Port Huron Castle is still for sale and so is the one from Wheeling West Virginia.
  • Just because you can afford to buy something doesnt mean you can afford to own it.
  • The Italian house in Wheeling WV is Italian because of the huge influx of Italian immigrants in the late 19th through mid 20th century. Huge Italian heritage in that area.
  • The big blue house in Lake Charles used to be pink. It's right around the corner from my apartment. I've always wanted to own it.

Interesting properties but I'd imagine the cost of repairs and heating and taxes are the hidden costs. The Italian prime was my favourite one.

These properties are abandoned because of the 'maintenance' and the 'property taxes' on them. All the cheapest properties are only such because NOBODY can afford to maintain them, which makes them worthless.

If these cheap mansions for sale were any kind of a bargain, don't you think that local, savvy, experienced investors would buy them already? There a lot of successful property investors in every part of the US who constantly scan the market for good real estate deals and underpriced properties. There's a reason why these mansions haven't been snapped up already.

Not to mention the probability of back taxes and structural integrity, each of these homes requires between 500,000 and $2 million restoration money. Also, don’t ever buy anything listed on the historical national registry or anything like that. The restrictions are extremely rigorous and caused tremendous extra expense. You are not given free range to do what you want to your own property!
  • I'm elated I discovered your YouTube channel. I love timeless homes. Keep up the fantastic work my guy. Oh ! Now I'm intrigued about Ark 7. I've never ever heard of Art 7.
  • Repair and maintenance would be mind bougling, old mansion also give me the impression that it is haunted, given all the haunted movie there is out there

That castle in Port Huron is absolutely amazing I want it so bad

The purchase price is the least of your worries. In addition to the cost of renovations to make them livable, you'll then pay a fortune in taxes, not to mention the cost to maintain these homes, heating and air, it would still make you broke unless you are very wealthy.

usually if it sounds too good to be true , it usually is just imagine the needed renovation costs of some of these essential repairs and all has to be or brought up to current code standards and what about maintenance costs and taxes on some of them big houses and what about any back taxes owed , or leans on the property and the location , meaning you gonna move maybe to an area where you can’t make enough money to support your family or take on a massive project like most of them houses are ? well good luck in / with your new mansion
  • I love these old homes. Perfect dream homes! Im betting the low cost is all about location.
