"The First Flame quickly fades. Darkness will shortly settle. But one day, tiny flames will dance across the darkness. Like embers, linked by lords past."

Finally - a random YouTube of Gothic ambiance that doesn't sound like boring, generic, cookie cutter garbage! I could write books to this...

"There are no shadows in the dark. Shadows are the servants of the light, the children of fire. The brightest flame casts the darkest shadows."

I don't know how you create this music but it really expresses the feeling of long abandoned and haunted castles and temples..
  • People in the comments talk about how the music is "depressing" but it's really not. It's relief of depression. Maybe some of those people don't know they are depressed because they stuff it back deep in their mind constantly with distractions. Social media, tv, games, etc. When you listen to this music, it opens your mind and is an essential part of healing. This music is medicine.
  • Day 15. I've only been in this place for two weeks, but it feels like decades. Had I not written in my journal, I would have not known how long I've been here. I entered this grim cathedral to hide from the feral beast that hunted me, but I fear this place too have monsters. With every step I take I feel dread entering my heart and my sanity leaving my mind. This place...This accursed place, I think it's alive. Whenever I entered a room that I think I've been in before, it seems to change when I look away, The hallways change and the room seems to morph a new one. I do not know where I go and I can not go back where I once was. At this moment, I had wished those beast had eaten me, at least it will be over quick. Thinking of those animals eating my carcass made me come to a realization. Since I've been here I have not crave water or food. Am I to walk in this Godless building for eternity, Am I walking towards my death or am I already dead ? I truly do not know.

It took me a long time to go from being depressed and creeped out by this type of dark atmosphere to being able to find a sense of beauty and peace in it. I think my past has just desensitized me to darkness and the reactive fear it provokes. I now look at darkness as a sense of tranquility and even art. I think it's why I tend to gravitate towards more melancholic games, books, movies, music, etc. I love that sense of sadness and darkness that's just there. Not sadness from loss or anything. Or darkness from emotional/mental battles. Just melancholic stillness that suggests that there was once life and brightness; however, that has all crumbled away and all that is left is darkness and peace.

"This is a world lost to ruin, sundered by time, and whispered through the ages."
  • @Greggorious123
I want to be a happier person, yet retain my love of the darkness
  • From bone and blood Earth and Stone True and false Knee and throne A kingdom alone Life lingers Within the void unknown Little more than a tomb To call our own
  • The Light is fading. Soon all these poor little embers will be naught but ash floating in the wind...

Good music to drive around at night through the empty quarantined streets.

Your party enters a large Cavern, 50 feet in front of you, you see a golden key lying on the ground gleaming. When you look up you see movement on the ceiling. The slightest sound will bring them down. Damn it, we should have brought a thief...

  • @MiaMaven
I wish I could hear this while walking through the ruins of a beautiful gothic church or castle. It evokes so much emotion and feelings.
  • @shayden4296
Beautiful, yet sad. Like a memory of a place and time that was, and that never will be again. Makes me love the nightmares, for the real pain is emotional and fear only distracts me from it.
