  • It pretty obvious how an unstable family life can lead to all sorts of problems down the road.

Does everyone else smile when they flash 80 days later?
  • I love these stories that have the happy endings of sobriety. I sm a recovering addict, so I know how hard it is to really make the choice to change directions. God bless him and all that are fighting this fight!

Muskoka is BEAUTIFUL. I hope he stays clean for his kids. Kids don't deserve addict parents.

Good for him !!! This is so encouraging ! I am always amazed by the change in the tone of voice of the subject once they stick to the program. Their voice is clearer, more assertive. They speak with confidence. Again, good for him !!!!

That mother put her kids through WAY TOO MUCH
  • Addiction is real. It affects the individual and the family as well. In my experience its unfortunate to say that theres not much anyone can do to help until that person is ready to quit. There's nothing better than having a family or close friends that is there for you when you finally make that decision. Im 18 months sober now, thankful and lucky to have both of my parents here, supporting me through this part of my journey. I was released from prison in March, they gave me a place to stay until i get on my feet. Im working with my brother part time, paying my fines and saving what i can for a vehicle and eventually my own place. I'm blessed with a family that cares and have given me another chance to get things right. Some people dont have anyone, but there is places throughout the community there to help.

Psychotherapist here. Abuse or any other trauma doesn't equal addiction. And, addiction to anything is curable. I had a problem with cocaine and alcohol in grad school. It lasted for two years and I put myself in NA long before I graduated. I've been sober for 14 years. (I've had my private practice for a decade). The truth of the matter is that folks with substance abuse issues are not going to become sober unless they are seeking sobriety. But, if are reading this and feeling like you can't get sober because it's so difficult or impossible, it is so possible! All you have to do is seek sobriety and show up to whatever form of treatment you think works best for you. You've got this. Literally.

It’s such a relief seeing someone from home get better. The drugs here in Thompson are a plague on the community, but the nearest resources are like 9 hours away by car. It’s so hard for people to get help here.

The mom did her kids so dirty. 2 divorces and no accountability from her. I hope he stayed sober and continued to hone his skills
  • @Delordem
He reminds me so much of many of my closest friends growing up, and the road I was down along with those friends.. this one hit close to home. Growing up in a small northwestern Ontario town something about him and his family just felt so familiar and seeing him thrive and crushing this chapter made me clap my hands with joy while watching .. Josh you don’t know me and I don’t know you, but I’m so proud of you and you got this buddy!
  • Woww he turned his life around!! I hope he is still sober till this day!! Saint Jude will help those of us struggling with addiction. We just have to believe and pray to him for his intercession. I love Saint Jude he has a heart of gold and will never hesitate to help us!!!

It took me getting sober off of fentanyl and getting into grad school for mental health counseling to realize how much the dysfunctional relationships I have with my family has contributed to me resorting to opiates for comfort and security. Now I try to spread awareness through my YouTube channel by recovering loudly for those who are suffering in silence. I feel so exposed and even embarrassed at times. But, it’s not about me. It’s about the people we can help. ❤
  • @Valley_Girl
Not saying it's the mom's fault but do not put yout kids into that situation where they are bullied and beaten up every day. Give your kids a life where they are accepted at school. No reason that he should have gone through that at school.

    “He’ll probably remember me” 😳😧😢
