  • If you have ever heard a bajan accent, you would know this isn't her bajan accent, this is a slight bajan lilt if anything
  • If you listen to her singing you can catch Rihanna’s bajan accent her disposition is very sweet and down to earth
  • As a Trini who grew up around Hispanics and Caribbeans of all kinds in NYC, and with a mother married to a Bajan, she had her accent toned down throughout until the end. It's very hard for others to understand the broken English. Being made fun of alot in elementary school taught me how to turn my accent on and off at the appropriate times.

I love how she let her real accent out at the end “Wuh yuh duz do wih deez hearts on duh side?”

I wish her accent was still thick like it was! All Caribbean accents are so beautiful ❤

Awww I love hearing her accent so much !!! I can’t get enough !!! It’s faded now though... it makes me think of Trevor Noah’s “don’t loose your accent” comedy bit

I think she’s toning it down. Because I when I hear her speaking with her fellow Barbadians is hard for me to understand.
  • She sounded so cute on the LIVE, she's so damn adorable!!
  • As a bajan I can say her accent was mostly out in di last clip but in di other clips she had to bring it down to where people can understand her when she speaks because from what I was told from people who isn't from Barbados is that we does speak fast so she brings her accent down

I'm Trini, grew up in Trinidad. My husband however, is American. When I'm speaking to Trinis my accent is "Trini to de bone". Everyone else gets this slower hybrid-trini accent I've adopted. This is because I have found that most non-caribbean people I've spoken to, I had to repeat myself. Constantly. Also, I did not have to ask the reason for such because they all react similarly; apologizing firstly (though it's not warranted imo) before asking me to repeat what was said. Whenever this happened, I would automatically slow my speech, enunciate and paraphrase as much as possible. Now, I find myself speaking to almost everyone in this hybrid Trini accent and I absolutely hate it. I mostly dislike it because I have to make a conscious decision to switch back to my native accent when it should have been the other way around. Except when quarrelling...de Trini in meh does take center stage for dat!
  • If you listen to her closely you can hear her Bajan accent closely I would love to listen to her talk for hours and just a hour on end I love her accent
  • Great entertainer, I love Barbados 🇧🇧 and the West Indies they are wonderful people with a charming accent

in her first video, she was so shy. now she's one of the most successful artist out there. Glad to see her staying the same from the beginning even when she was starting out till now, just more confident. I love Mariah, and listens to her everyday! but this is what I'm saying. Mariah changed so much and is way different from before.
  • Yes her real Bajan accent was at the very end. Love hearing it! It’s the sound of my family 🥰. from parish St. James 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
