Love Lewitt Mics! I’ve gotten great results with the 440 Pure but it’s great to see this comparison covering a entire mic range. Thank you for such a great review!
  • @breakdancinfool
640 was the most notable jump in quality. The tubes nicely smoothed out mids and highs but didnt add any noticeable fidelity. That being said, the Pure Tube sounded warmer and fuller than the 1040

I have LCT 240 and 440. They're fantastic. Really bright microphones

LCT 440 is an incredible mic for the money. Anyone who doesn't know much about this stuff and just wants a fantastic sound for minimal fuss should grab one. I spent countless hours/days/weeks/months messing around with other mics for voiceover, ranging from a Yeti (which sounded like ass) to an SM57 (which sounded very good but had a hundred finnicky drawbacks like picking up hum and needing excessive gain and complicated EQing... and still at the end of all that didn't sound nearly as natural as the 440). Bought a 440, spent about 10 mins applying the simplest of EQ and some expander to catch mouth noise and breathing, spoke 30 deg off axis (but still centered on the mic's polar pattern) to avoid plosives and take a bit of the edge off... amazing results. Easy and done. This is what mics should be but so rarely are unless you spend thousands. Can't recommend it enough. The only down side is that the mount and pop filter now appear to be plastic, not metal. But at this price I'm amazed they were ever not plastic.
  • The 840 is actually the smoothest and easiest to work with as a mix engineer
  • Fantastic review, I love all my Lewitts! Almost exclusively using them now and am still fascinated by their variation in sound which allows me to capture anything, anytime in different situations: From Orchestras to Rock Bands, Singer Songwriters to Traditional Bands!
  • @mandoaries
i think the 640 is where it starts to differentiate
  • @kristapspucens
Great video. I have 2x lewitt 440 pure mics, they have more highs, BUT, they are detailed and air'y, and not harsh. Great mics, love them!
  • @mikal8278
The sound of the 1040 is just amazing
  • @MidorikawaAkira
The LCT 440 PURE and LCT 540 S are vastly superior to other microphones in the same price range.
  • @salossi
But anyways: Great singing, great voice. And I love the way you compare those mics, with short passages of the same part of the song plus offering the non-processed dry microphone signals. Well done, dude!
  • @MarcellJjr
Just purchased the LCT 640 TS from the sound from this video. It sounded the clearest and warm.
  • @mr.monkei
The 240, 440, 540 and 640 sounds a bit harsh on the top end. However the Pure Tube and 1040 has such a smooth silky top end with depth. The Pure tube handles sibilance better than any other mic I have heard.
  • @legacyShredder1
Why does the LCT 840 tube mic always get ignored by the YouTube community? Don't get me wrong, because I do like your videos. The 840 is such an awesome microphone to have stashed away in the locker, but few people know it exists as an excellent option.
  • @djdannyt_the_Tek
Our favorite mics at the church I work at. We have 4 540S mics for the choir and other uses, and 1 640TS for our Grand Steinway piano. We love them!
  • @mostyles328
I would get 440 (have) or the 1040.... Thos are the two price points that make sense. The flagship would be nice if I was tracking a variety of vocals all day long. Nice demo.
  • @RedsaphirASMR
As an owner of ASMR channel I can say that 1x 640TS and 2x 540S is top tier option for ASMR setup and I am saving for them :D Extremely low self-noise and good in every situation, from voice to foley. 540S are great for nature sounds too (even though you wouldn't normally use large diaphragm condensers for that). Now I have two 440 Pures and cannot be happier.
  • @brandonvorhis
The 640 is actually on sale rn for 699$ rn, so imo that’s a steal.
