NO GAMESHARK CODE WAS USED
This is me showing you how to do the Professor Oak Battle. This implied you were going to fight him at one point, but for whatever reason they decided not to reveal him. But due to a common glitch, you can fight the most powerful trainer in your Pokemon Generation 1 Game!

Before you start anything make sure you have the following available to you;
-UNUSED trainer at Route 7 or 24 (or any other place) so you can fly away
-UNUSED trainer to battle to have the start button functioning again, and to allow to activate the glitch.

Now here is what you have to do;
-Get a Pokemon with a special of 226 (this number is to fight Professor Oak, we all know of the famous Special 21 that allows you to get a Mew, same principal)
-You will need a Pokemon with an attack that reduces the ATTACK stat of the Pokemon, for this I used GROWL.
-Fly away from the gambler (route 7) or any location you chose, and fight the next unused trainer Make sure he WALKS TOWARDS YOU
-After you defeat the trainer, fly to Cinnabar Island to find a Ditto that can copy your stat (In Pokemon Yellow Ditto are found either in the Pokemon Mansion (10%) or deep inside the Cerulean Cave (5-10%)
-Once you encounter Ditto, switch into your Pokemon with the Special stat of 226 so that it transforms into it.
-Reduce its Attack stat by 4-6 stages (depending on how many times you use it depends what starter Professor Oak has, for this I used 4 Growl attacks)
-Once Ditto is defeated (or you can simply RUN AWAY, it's NOT obligated to kill Ditto), use Escape Rope to teleport to the last Pokemon Center used (Lavender in my case)
-Walk outside of the town/city, the start button will open, close it and prepare for battle!

NOTE Professor Oak will have the SAME defeat speech as the trainer you defeated

In the data, Oak normally has a Lv66 Tauros, a Lv67 Exeggutor, a Lv68 Arcanine, a Lv70 Gyarados, and one of the starter Pokémon at Lv69.

If you have any questions I'll be glad to answer them for you.

FAQ:
That isn't Pikachu's Cry!
- It is, you never played Yellow

You have all 3 starters? Cheater!
- You get them all through normal play, or I could have used (I didn't btw) the "Ditto Glitch (same glitch seen in this video)" to get any Pokemon I want, either way you never played Yellow.

This doesn't work he's full of shit, trust me I know.
- I'm not the only one who's done this without a gameshark code, plus all these glitch methods can be found on BULBAPEDIA, if you bothered to do an ounce of research. But since you cannot because that's hard for some people, I'll paste what is actually said on their site: "The only known ways to battle Oak are by performing the Ditto glitch with a Special stat of 226 or by performing the old man glitch with MN as the character in the 3rd, 5th or 7th slot of the player's name. These teams cannot be battled when using the old man glitch; they can only be battled via the Ditto glitch if the wild Ditto's Attack is lowered by 4, 5, or 6 stages (each will yield a different one of the three teams)."

To the "experts" claiming hacks as to how I clone items on Yellow. You use the exact same method as in this video, however you use a Special of 182-184 to encounter Missingno in Yellow. These ones clone your items just like in Red/Blue. Here's a video done on the 3DS to confirm it works on the virtual console.    • Pokemon Yellow 3DS - MissingNo. / Ite...   .

  • @SmokingShellx
I always loved the way hyper beam looked and sounded in the old school games.
  • Jr. Trainer: "I just became a trainer! But, I think I can win!" [Sends out Lv. 19 Sandshrew against a Lv. 71 Nidoking.] Jr. Trainer: Uh-oh...

They shouldn't have taken this out of the game. It's cool and it makes me feel less bad for that third pokemon who doesn't get picked
  • @davidpt
In the early games most pokemon looked more badass than nowadays...a Dragonite was something amazing to see. Nowadays it's a cute thing that you can commonly fight
  • @drygnfyre
It just blows my mind how deep and elaborate the glitches in Gen 1 are. To think glitches like these weren't discovered until years after the games were released.

I personally believe that Oak was originally supposed to be the final boss of the game. After you beat Blue, he’d take you into the Hall of Fame where he’d challenge you to a battle to see who’s the real champion. Would’ve been epic. It’s a shame they cut it

Damn that music took me back. I was holding my phone upright. felt like I was holding a GameBoy again.
  • @onilink00
Oak: "Let's have a good fight, Ash" changes pokemon everytime to match weakness Oak: "Wtf Ash?"
  • @jokerofnewhaven
Woah, Holy Crap, that is amazingly cool... I've been playing Pokemon Gen 1 on and off my entire life, and I had no idea you could even do this!? I'm 27 now, and today is my birthday(oddly enough) Honestly, to the creator of this video, you have made my birthday very memorable and very happy... thankyou. That is absolutely awesome... Wow.

I believe Prof Oak was intended to be like Red was in Gen 2, the surprise final boss of Gen 1. Whick explains his diverse pokemon types. Im sure the creators figured they should've left Oak as a boss in Gen 1, so in turn they made up for it by putting Red in Gen 2.

Im 32, and really enjoyed this video, took me back to the good days, thanks for the great work.

I like how Oak's lineup is similar to Blue's (Arcanine, Exeggutor, Gyarodos). Like Grandpa, like grandson, I guess.

Professor Oak: My Pokemon couldn't! Me: ...couldn't what?
  • @TrollPiracy
Oak: "My POKEMON counldn't" They just couldn't.

I love things like this, and the theories people come up with. After almost 16 years it still makes me wonder that maybe this game could've played out differently to what it did when I was younger and the whole adventure I played as a child could've had a different story even if it was minor.
  • @Ango52391
Lol Cinnabar Island is like seizure city in this game! And Venusaur looks like a piece of lettuce.
  • @arekusu.
you run into Oak outside of Lavender Town "Oh hello young man, I've been waiting for you! Let me get a bit more comfortable..." he removes his lab coat and shirt, and he's RIPPED "Alright, let's dance, sprout."
  • @94popart
guy wants to fight: ! *flys away LOL!
