Fun fact: Alucard in the original show obeys some old Vampire logic like not being able to travel over flowing water, meaning he had to bring his Coffin with him to keep him anchored to his powers while he went to deal with Winkle. Meanwhile, the boat he was on had its engines completely destroyed, so he had to just keep paddling in the water for two days and hope the ship caught itself on a good current or wave.

Hirano has admited that he designed Alucard to be a walking Deus Ex Machina on his own, resulting in an easy defeat of any enemy. Hellsing Abridged took that concept and raised it to Sun Wukong from Journey to the West levels of badassery.
