He didn't sing this to contest with Freddie Mercury, he sang it to honour him. He deserves credit for that. Some people here fail to realize that.
  • Elton maybe has not that range but man he sings with soul and emotion. And that is what music is all about.
  • He sang this with his voice, as a tribute not an imitation. This version is amazing, full of feelings.

Elton was a great friend of Freddie’s and even visited him on his deathbed. LOYALTY

I'm a Queen fan but also a Elton fan, Elton may not have the same vocal range as Freddie, but he certainly knew how to sing properly in his style, I love the way he sing this song.

John Deacon was suffering from very deep depression but still gave it everything to perform because the show must go on, Freddie would have been proud of him
  • I like the way Elton John sang this masterpiece. He knows that he can't hit those high notes like Freddie so instead of that he's doing low harmonies and leaving highs for Roger. That was absolutely genius move. ❤️
  • Elton sang this song with love, loss, and honour. He has nowhere near the vocal range of Mercury, but he is a hell of a musician and knows how to make it sound good regardless of his restrictions. You don't need to have the highest vocal range to be a star. Freddie and Elton are both legends in their own ways. If only Freddie were still here.

Tony Iommi is incredibly humble to have done rhythm guitar on this song.

He did it for Freddy and he did it perfectly. Elton John is pure love. He had and has truckloads of empathy. Love you Elton.
  • Saw Elton on a cafe drinking coffee in Colchester once , he just sat chilling with 4-5 bodyguards just outside of the cafe , but Elton was kind enough to let me get a picture of us together and an autograph. Great experience.
  • I'm not used to seeing Sir Elton singing with no piano in front of him—I'm very impressed. He did this number justice which is no easy task.

A lot of comments about Sir Elton, but are we just gonna ignore that the guitarist from BLACK SABBATH is playing with them!?!? Love this combo

I love that Elton sang this. Freddie must've been so unbelievably proud of his bandmates and friends that night. Something tells me he must've been so in awe of all the love shown. Freddie, you are irreplaceable.

Elton doesn't parallel the vocal range or stage presents of Freddie Murcury in the slightest, but he has one large set of balls singing for him, that I respect very much
  • If you ever wanted to watch Elton’s heart hurt during a performance, this is it. God speed, and rest easy Mr. Mercury.
