As some of you already mentioned, Under the Tree is indeed technically an ending. However, some part of the community sees it rather as an opening, maybe bc final season part 3 doesnt have any other recognizable theme song and bc it really rather gives you op vibes. But technically, you guys are correct.

Red Swan is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED

I always looked as the openings as a perfect mirror to the show. Guren no Yumiya by Linked Horizon is the grand setting and the day humanity got a reminder that this will be memed to death. Jiyuu no Tsubasa by Linked Horizon symbolizing the change of setting but nothing is that different. Shinzo wo Sasageyo is where the series started getting it's defining features that really made it shine. Red Swan is when everything started changing so no longer was it done by Linked Horizon. As things start to get serious and somber well somber-er. Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi is an attempt to regain that classic feeling of the past as it returned back to Linked Horizon and the simple life of killing humans but then Boku no sensou (My War) hits you and lets you know that this is war and the dehumanization of what war does. The Rumbling is just the prologue to the end and then you have Under the Tree which is basically one catchup with edgy music and then Saigo No Kyojin preformed once again by Linked Horizon to bring it all back around to where we once began.....with Eren finally dead this time for real, for real. No fake out like in season 1. Well at least he will be just as soon as someone goes bird hunting.
