I grew up in the pacific islands and these type of coconuts are found more in land. The inside of the coconut also has a coating of fatty custard like covering the sprout, it is very sweet with little to no liquid inside. The more we get closer to the coastline, ocean, the smaller the sprout gets with more liquid inside the coconut than the custard. It still sweet but not as sugary as the coconut sprouts we have inland.

They are call coconut apples, I had them in Mexico, the texture is kind of like soft foam, soak in coconut water...delicious!
