More or less, like the gods, he thinks they’re incapable of understanding what he knows. Whereas, I remember that the reason why the gods didn’t want to answer Cassida’s hard questions could’ve been answered easily. Like the gods, Ludinus felt that answering the question would paint them in a bad light and lose the argument. They’d rather destroy than accept that they were wrong.

I love the ad bit of Sam just slowly taking over Matt's life. He stole his look, his name, his wife, and even his dog.
