‘Why am I being sent back?’ Hurt, anger for Afghans pushed out by Pakistan

Published 2024-04-16
Pakistan is starting a second phase of a controversial plan to deport hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees living in the country.

Over half a million undocumented Afghan nationals have been expelled since last October.
The government is extending its deportation plan - to include many Afghans who hold Pakistani documents.

Many Afghans in Pakistan say they're heartbroken at being forced to leave a place they call home.

Al Jazeera’s Kamal Hyder reports from Landi Kotal in Pakistan, on the border with Afghanistan.

As a Pakistani, I am ashamed of them for treating the Afghans like this. Pakistan is a disgrace, it has so much potential but is run by corrupt politicians and the military. Bangladesh have now overtaken Pakistan in every aspect. Pakistan allegedly has a strong military but to me it seems like they are myth, I have never heard or seen Pakistan in any real combat. Shameful

I don't support this. This is just cruel. At least give them a chance to acquire citizenship.

sry Afghanistan the people of Pakistan hold nothing against you our government is owned by the US and wish to destabilise the region.
  • The decision doesn't represent the majority of Pakistan. What's happening now most of the people in Pakistan will not want to do. It's the decision of the Military alone. While lots of Pakistanis want to leave as well 😂
