I'll tell you what killed me this weekend was hearing the F1 Live commentary remain completely oblivious to the hole in Perez's sidepod until post-sprint. I got second-hand embarrassment at their confusion as to his loss of pace. It was pretty clearly visible from the multiple angles shown that he had a big ol' chunk out of his car from that contact.

Another great analysis! I always look forward to your no nonsense, data driven insights, so many people knee jerk reaction to situations and almost always add favoritism, bias, and prejudice to their reactions, I'm stoked to see when you analyze the situation and give your opinion whether or not it favors your former employer or not! Really enjoying buying you coffee bro, I'll double down and buy you a beer or three if I could!๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜‚ Your expertise makes it all worthwhile!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘โœ”๏ธ

Alpine was one of the teams I cheered for. How was firing all those good people going to improve the car? Changing administration doesnโ€™t improve engineering. Super disappointed. I feel like Alpine got screwed by a business person looking for a solution to a problem they donโ€™t understand.

love the vids, can you get a new mic / move the mic placement. Super harsh consonants / poppy.

Why am i remembering Piastri on a podium, either 2nd or most likely 3rd and if you tell me it wasn't sprint in this video then where did he squeeze in between max checko and Charles Legreg?
  • @MrALPHAHOWL
Do you believe that mclaren still have pace and this was a one off due to setup to a wet race and not being able to make a good smaller wing in time or that they will become like aston Martin and fall back behind ferrari and mercedes in pace? Great video!

Max seems to have smaller advantage after the transition from inters to softs - is it because RB-Max combo is easy on tires so he struggles to get the tires up to the right temp when the track is still damp?

Lewis would probably have been on pole. Because for that he didn't need the fastest lap. He just needed to beat Charles. Above Eau Rouge Russell did block Lewis when going to the left. And that was probably 1 tenth. Below Eau Rouge of course Russell stays there to give Lewis one might pull. But above he had to move smarter. Beating Max time though? No chance. Pole and fastest lap are very different things.

I am confused. Is Szafnauer actually a bad Team-Principal? I have no insight, but he seemed like a likeable guy and he has a tone of experience. Even though Alpine looked quite bad recently...

Love you analysis. Just a one small suggestion. Your noise reduction on your mic is set way too high. It sounds a bit unnatural and your voice sounds shaky because of that. I think you can definitely lower it down and still achieve the same result. Without all the harsh cuts every time you stop speaking. Other than that, love the high quality of your vids!

LH wasnโ€™t fully alongside, rewatch the onboard of LHโ€ฆ. And LHโ€™s left front tyre hit the sidepod which also proofs that. LH understeered into Checo, itโ€™s that simple. Doesnโ€™t matter if you used to be payed by RBโ€ฆ. Facts are facts.

Lewis could have been on pole? I don't believe Lewis is a driver that leaves 8/10 of a second on the table...

SQ3 Mercedes actually had a somewhat reasonable gap between the 2 cars, albeit leaning very much on the small side. Russell botched la source, went off line and couldn't get the traction out of the corner which slowed him all the way to eau rouge, and incidentally, him getting slowed so much gave Lewis so much of a tow that quickens Lewis and narrows the gap even further. On Russell's end, he wouldn't have backed out of the lap because on his dashboard, it probably just said +.3~+.4, given that the track is getting so much faster, he would reasonably have thought that he would make up enough time in S2 to make this attempt worthwhile, or at least give him a better time than his banker lap. The issue being that the Mercedes garage really should have told Russell to move over and let Lewis through because Russell definitely wouldn't be thinking about Lewis' lap in the middle of his one shot qualifying lap.

Alright, after watching the german Formel Schmidt podcast with awesome insider and former endurance driver Michael Schmidt, I had to get away from my stance what cost Szafnauer his job. Strange and ugly politics going on in the Alpine team. The envy about Aston Martin's and McLaren's rise really shook that whole organisation. Bruno Fermin is an F1 newbie without any network whatsoever. Szafnauer never had any chance to really do anything, always had to report and beg about everything up top at Alpine. I can really see this going into the bin, sadly.
