In 2009, I drove to all 48 Mainland States in America, visiting one place in each state that shared its name with a station on the Tube Map. The 12 week long roadtrip also took in several classic 'must see' tourist spots along the way. Thousands of photos were taken, hours of video were recorded, and at the end of it all ... this is a one hour documentary of my summer journey around the USA.

Note:
This is a re-upload, because I first finished editing this and uploaded it to Youtube in 2015, but it contained commerical music which later recieved copyright strikes. So I removed it, but have now eventually got round to replacing the music with copyright free tracks, and at the same time have re-recorded some of the voiceovers that I was unhappy with, polished some of the edits, and added in a small number of extra clips too.

I can't believe Geoff was planning to settle down in America while still loving the London Tube so much that he did a 12 week road trip just to visit places with the same name as tube stations.
  • Crashed his car twice in one year, eh? Now I finally understand why Geoff's all about trains. Probably safer for everyone that way... 😉

BONUS FACT: It's recorded in Standard Definition, not HD! Even though my video camera at the time was capable of shooting in HD, my editing software/computer wasn't, so yeah ... 480p is the highest quality!

This video pulsates 00s energy, you could play any 2000s electronic song along to it and you would just time travel back to 2006 and I love it.

Wow Geoff, you truly got to see America in its purest form. I am an American truck (Lorry) driver, and I see this America every single day. Most tourists see the major cities in a country. This was a magnificent way to see our beautiful country. You even got robbed on day three!

Never mind the video quality, the content shines through. That was an hour well spent, thankyou
  • I remember taking an AMTRAK train just after midhnight from Greensboro, to get me to Atlanta, so I could say that I was taking that midnight train to Georgia.
  • I remember this, glad you did this in my country. It was a great idea, one of your best. You turned into a Florida Man for a day. It's awesome that there's a Kew Gardens station in Kew Gardens. The community was amazing for starting a fundraiser for new equipment so you could continue the epic journey and not give up

What I love about this are the parallels with all the stations and the Geofferisms that have carried on for the next 11 years ... 1. Calling the audience "people" 2. People not wanting to be filmed 3. Puts camera on floor", *Sits down", "Looks over shoulder*, *Starts talking 4. Holborn. Corrour is better. Why has someone left a solitary truck in Holborn? 5. Least used phone boxes 6. Clothes washing issues A bit sweary though I have to say

52: 00 is why I would never do a trip like that. More power to you for doing it. Too bad you missed out on Lancaster, PA. That would have been more enjoyable and it has a big railroad museum just outside of town.

As an American thoroughly in love with the idea of a road trip, this was excellent Corona catharsis. Perhaps someday you can return to visit some more of our National Parks - I feel that they are truly the best America has to offer. Top 5 recommendations (lower 48, not counting Yellowstone & Badlands): Glacier (Montana) Yosemite (California) Acadia (Maine) Canyonlands (Utah) Big Bend (Texas)
  • Brilliant!! Simply brilliant!! As an American, I’ve not seen as much of this beautiful, expansive country as you. I hope to, as I’m only 63! Even at that tender age, you made a great videographer!! Thank you Geoff.

Geoff! Howdy Mate! I can’t believe I just caught your USA Underground Documentary. I’m a big fan of your channel and a somewhat train enthusiast on my own. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your journey/Qwest/adventure! It was sad to see when you had your equipment robbed but glad to see you had such great friends to get you up and running again! You certainly have friends! Thanks Again for sharing-It was Brilliant!! Cheers!

Oh my word a documentary! I'm in love with it already
  • This is thoroughly absorbing Geoff. A wonderful way to spend an hour!
