thanks for the video, adding an S2000 to the garage this week!

I think the rear wheel bearing issue has more to do with the undertorqued rear axles from the factory that are ignored by owners. If the rear axle nut TSB is not performed soon enough the wheel bearing will go bad due to the play from the loose nut. Never heard of the rear rotor heat issue.

Well done dude! All the very best do what you can content wise as your DIY's are always so clear and consise and very much appreciated but above all else take care of you! If you ever want to do a major road trip head up to Toronto and we'll put some of that knowledge to good use in getting my AP1 back into tip top shape...until then take care, stay healthy and thank you again for your shared education and time.

Thanks for the video. Planning on buying a used s2000 from japan so now i know what to look for when i buy it.

My 04 with 210k miles never had these 5 problems yet. Dirty clutch fluid made clutch master cylinder go bad but now I change fluid often. Trunk wires usually go bad since there is no slack. Amsoil fixed the notch feel...

On ap1s valve retainers and banjo bolts should be replaced for ap2 versions, and that should be the no1 preventative maintenance to make
  • @stratussx
I'm writing these down before owning one. I'll start buying parts & be ready. Less headaches honestly.

What do you expect when most Drivers of this car beat the piss out of it...difficult to find a decent used one.

Notchy shifter - royal purple gear oil and re grease shifter and I didn’t notice it was notchy until I bought a daily 😂😂 now it feels awesome! I got the royal purple thing from lht performance

He's legit correct. after 10k miles, I had to replace my rear right bearing, tensioner and yea, my tire pressure is often way off.
  • @FlyinGato
undertorqued rear axles from the factory has been a big issue as well.

Useful video! I've been having some weird notchiness going from first second, I'm gonna have to try what you recommended.

Good informative video, the only thing you were missing was the dreaded soft top tears. Unbeknownst to me I bought my AP2 with an OEM hardtop and never checked the soft top for signs of wear, a year later of lowering/rising and I can see daylight 360 throughout the car practically.
  • Good day my S2000 friends. On YouTube there's a fix for the TCT by just taking out the worm gear and rough it up with a Dremel tool. not too rough but score it up.

MY04 is perfect 😉. I change trans fluid every other oil change. The only issue I've herd of is the timing chain tensioner which isn't a big deal.. My cousin has an 00 with 100k+ miles and tracks 3-4 times a year as do I with mine. No issues..
  • @endlesstwisties
Omg. My S2k it's perfect. Doesn't have any of these issues yet. But i respect the manual. Changing with oem oils sparkplugs and all when it says it must be done. And it's completely stock
  • @dirtydelta7
You missed the most common problem on the AP1 motors. Leaky/failing Clutch master cylinder
