A nice overview of the series! I would have like to have seen my name in the descriptions "credits" as "inker" but, I get it... inkers are left out a lot. Secret Wars was a deadline nightmare, so being able to do all the pages on all issues was not possible. But I did the majority of inks on all 12 issues. :-)

1:23:00 "What is pain to one such as I? I will shut it out. Other men fall prey to the very specter of death... When her cold embrace seems imminent... they simply swoon into her arms! But I... I am Doom!" Wow! 😱 He's now my favorite villian

"He ain't gonna reach out and touch nobody, unless he can find a pay phone!" Haha what a quintessentially 80's joke.

This is one of my all time favorite story arcs in the Marvel Universe. I was 14 when this hit the racks and am still, to this day, at the age of 50, a huge comic nerd. Thank goodness for comics.
  • @DzustComics
Doom being a BAMF, my all time favorite character having his low key first appearance, Magneto starting his redemption... Tak about a classic! 🤩

I remember this storyline so well. Some great books came out at this time. My favorite era of Spiderman. Always the happiest time of month when a small stack wrapped in brown paper arrived in my mailbox.
  • The moment when Xaviers super secret specially trained Mutie squad gets punked out by a guy who can’t keep a steady job and has zero training in anything at all. I miss these kinds of comics.

Spiderman pretty much telling Nightcrawler, you couldn't beat me on the BEST day of your life (and webbing him up) and then swatting away Wolverine like a fly - EPIC.

1:12:54 I love that Klaw shows up and tries to be all meta by going "You narrate everything you do. Are you being recorded or something?" And then Doom just goes "Yeah, bro. I'm Doom. Everything I do is worthy of history."
  • the problem with the beyonder is the same "up the ante" problem in all comics. it feels so shallow to introduce some universe crushing power, only to come out later with someone else who dwarfs the first ones' power
  • @oneflores9580
Captain America really said “LEAVE ME BE THOT” and knockout enchantress
  • @brietzke99
Something that no one ever talks about when they mention Secret Wars is that that story was somewhat used in the Spider-Man animated TV show with Madame web and the beyonder
  • @Imakeyoucry69
this guy is so good, i love that he includes tiny details about things that you would never know unless you read every comic book known to man
  • I remember reading the original secret wars thinking it was so cool that comic book fans finally got to see Dr Dooms face without his mask on during secret wars, and Spider-Man's new symbiote costume was so cool then in the original secret wars too, plus we were introduced to the new Spider-woman as well then too.

To 15 year old me this was the greatest thing in the world when it came out.

@ComicsExplained I’ve probably commented on this video in the past and can’t recall but here I am yet again because I’ve read Secret Wars so many times in my life and it stands, to this day, as one of my favorite stories… I remember going to the comics store when I was like 11 and buying the TPB and 29 years later I still have the same one though it’s not in very good condition 😢 I can still remember so many lines that just cemented why Doom and Magneto were f’n awesome!!
