Whats shocking is the UAE land cruiser 70 series have bigger screens, leather interior reversing cameras, while Australia and South Africa spec get those poverty spec small screen 😢
  • @mickloney9826
I used to think Australia’s speed limits were too low. Then I drove a Hilux.
  • @ShoeysAdventures
should do Hilux, Prado, Fortuner and the new 79 as they all have the same motor now
  • @Handlesplus
The real surprise is not that the V8 is slow, it’s that the 4-cylinders are so dam fast! Plus, I would imagine that the V8 is pretty heavy on the fuel consumption.

Well done Paul, great video. You certainly know what ppl want and you think outside the square which places you above everyone else! Well done mate.
  • @enesfazlic6017
Man That V8 is just fucking Turd of an engine bloody hell.
  • @russell3436
Well to be fair Paul, these days more people drag race and speed in utes rather than people in sports cars, so this is why it’s now common and popular to have ute drag races on many YouTube channels, you’re right these vehicles aren’t designed to be speed demons but people will still flog them off the lights and gun it down the freeway anyway.
  • Paul, it may be a joke, but it was a lot of fun to watch. Great idea Paul .

Still take the V8 any day. Mosty for the beautiful sound they can produce.

Thanks for taking the time to make this happen Great video for us 2.8 owners 😂
  • @johnjackman7622
I think what most people forget is when I was growing up our light truck was a 2.8 naturally aspirated diesel with glow plugs that had to be heated to start. Gearing and a well built motor go a long way to handling weight and the demands of towing.

This is a great way to show torque and it’s advantage because they all have the same HP.
  • @mclongkock6678
V8 has a broader torque curve. The 4 cylinders have more peak power and torque. So from stand start the 4 cylinder rev out 1st and drop into its peak power band going into 2nd and so on. Plus the 4 cylinders are automatic so no time lost during shift.

Remember the Hilux has better aerodynamics than the 70 series. Drag coefficient of the hilux is roughly 40% greater also the downforce from the windscreen. Hence there's more turbulence attack on the 70 series frame(both). Same kurb weight but aerodynamics speaks louder in this test. Keep it up brother Paul. Cheers all the way from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Are these new 4 cylinder land cruisers going to tun into similar problems that the 2ltr bi turbo ranger has/had. Loaded up that little motor is going to work so much harder and on a high strung engine with weight will it lead to premature failure. Id love to see the 4 cylinder 79 with a round hay bail in the back of it over 12 months in some what hilly terrain. Is the transmission upto it will it hunt gears like the 2ltr ranger?
