Pule donkey cheese is the most expensive cheese in the world. Produced by only one farm in the world, pule will cost you about $600 for a single pound. Making it requires more time and effort than most other cheeses. You need over 6.5 gallons of donkey's milk just to make one kilogram of cheese. That's 2.5 times more than what you need to make mozzarella. So how does pule compare to other types of cheese? And why is it so expensive?

It's expensive bc not many people look at a donkey and say "Yea, I'm gonna milk that thing."
  • "You need over six-and-a-half gallons of donkey's milk just to make one kilogram of cheese." Jesus Christ, quit mixing measuring systems.
  • It's always been weird to me how calling someone a 'donkey' is an insult. Look how adorable they are and how much they helped mankind throughout the ages

So he earns a max of $30K from the cheese annually, but spends $100K on the farm. Clearly, he has enough money and this is more of a hobby, not a business running on proft.

a nutty taste? don't think they've been milking the right part...
  • @LynchMurphy
We need more people like him who care more about something other than just profit. He literally saved a species from extinction. It's so amazing!
  • @Krieze_Gamer
Someone's gonna break this so called most expensive cheese by making a cheese out of whale milk.

This feels more like a donation to an animal sanctuary and you get a thank you gift rather than an expensive product. The packaging is awfully fancy for some guy in a kitchen working with a teaspoon

In Morocco, the expression "donkey milk" is used to refer to something useless, we're very wrong.

As a Romanian I can't help but laugh when I hear the word pule because in Romanian it means the male genital part:))!
  • @MrJaneisfatify
Greg Focker: "Oh, you can milk just about anything with nipples." Jack Byrnes: "I have nipples, Greg, could you milk me?"
  • My high school teacher yelled at me "I'm only fit for raising donkeys".. Well it's a good idea.
  • That somehow reminds me of family guy Peter Griffin: I've just milked all the Goats! Lois Griffin: Peter all those Goats are male, Peter Griffin: Well the buckets are full and the goats are happy!!!

Its really neat that this came about because he wanted to preserve a species that makes him really cool. I have a feeling that all the money made goes right back into keeping the place running. He doesn't look like hes rich just middle class. But he makes something he loves and I like seeing videos like this people who enjoy doing this and producing a product even though its expensive that people will love and help them support their habbits.
  • They mention almost as a side-note that he helped preserve an entire species. Hats off to this guy.
