In Chad, even the desert is experiencing flooding on an unprecedented scale. More than a million people are affected by rising waters. Hundreds of thousands of hectares of fields have disappeared, a tragedy in a country where a third of the population is food insecure. In the south, although rich in oil, each trip is an epic for the local populations who do not benefit from the benefits of black gold. Norbert and Souleymane exhaust themselves every week on a broken track to supply the surrounding markets. In the Salamat region, transporting people is a daily challenge. The raging waters have washed away parts of the road, and in places, the track is submerged for hundreds of meters.

So glad for new episodes. I love this series. Been watching for a long time. I hope it keeps going. I drive for UBER on occasion and I picked up a passenger from the navel base who is originally from kenya, and we started talking about documentaries. When I mentioned this one his face lit up and we had a great conversation. He to is a big fan of Deadliest Journeys. Was a really cool experience. First time I've had a passenger from somewhere who didn't say a show about their home town/state/country was pure crap. I just remembered I also picked up a young lady who was also originally from kenya (I live in Florida BTW) she was on her way to the airport to fly home and was talking to someone on the phone, she said she was scared to go back because of all the robberies. She said she wasn't afraid for her life or anything it's just when they rob you instead of having a gun or knife they have a handful of human feces and threaten to rub it on you if you don't hand over your stuff. I had to laugh because I seem to remember the kenya episode said the same thing, or someone in that episode said something similar.

The problem is, that in 50 years you can make the same documentary again because nothing will change!!!
  • These docs make me feel like I have such nice cars. I'm very lucky

Tough living for tough people, there's no room for whining, patience and optimism are always the main spare..

My African brothers, how does that pickup hold? Incredible to say the least. I'm African, but this is a completely different perspective for me 😮😮The resilience is outstanding.
  • I would not have expected such flooding in a country in the sahel tbh. Especially with the increasing desertification. It is also the first time I have watched a documentary on Chad

What a market for surplus army trucks (British, French , Italian, German or U.S.)....simply give them to these poor folks!
