Alisa is a game by Casper Croes that was successfully kickstarted back in 2020. In Alisa, you play as Alisa (duh) who finds herself whisked away to a creepy dollhouse where everything is filled with cogs and gears... and they want to put those cogs and gears into her too.

Heya! Jean voice actor here (the toothpick gentleman). Loved your review, you get the game and what it's striving to convey 😁 stay tuned for an Alisa DLC soon...

Solving puzzles. Experience bodyhorror via handpuppet. Murdering some clowns. This game really has everything you need. The recent minor theme in games of focusing on uncanny puppets and marionettes is not so totally unwelcome if we see more quality artstyles like this or Lies of P

The movie this is supposedly inspired by is on youtube btw. Alice 1988. Not sure if that is the right one but it is a Czechoslovakia film based on Alice in Wonderland with Clockwork Renditions of characters. Edit: Just watched the film. Simultaneously fascinating and made me feel like I was in a odd place reminiscent of hell but not quite hell. Very Surreal Film.10/10.

I wonder if a flooded basement is just a horror game set in a single building requirement

I feel like pointing out that since it's the czech rendition the emphasis in Alisa should be on the "i" A-lee-sa But glad to see this getting coverage nonetheless, it's a pretty neat game

Man, I ADORED Alisa!! God, the controls, the aesthetic, the music, the voice acting, the dresses!!! they were all fantastic! i might be a bit biased because i love old survival horror games like these, but like cmon man this is just so good!! Mother made such an impression on me the first time I saw her, as I was heading over to the save place in the Fun House, and the hallway to it has the fixed camera on you and the door, so when i didn’t notice the utter lack of music, i ended up just running straight into her arms and being lifted away. I got so worried about her killing me again, i didn’t head over there at all😭 only figured out in my second play through that her appearance is completely randomized whenever you enter a room 😢 this game really should’ve been even more popular than it is right now, the story is just so charming and SO ambiguous man you don’t learn shit! and the stuff you do learn leads to 10 more questions 😭 11/10 game imo, you should really invest in the officer sword since you can get it early on in the Dollhouse and learn how to effectively kite your enemies, trust me, learning this is CRUCIAL and a very easy way to get toothwheels without wasting ammo. I was able to take out some of the late game enemies, like the ones in the garden, using the officer sword alone. For a little tutorial, the best way to utilize this is to bait an enemy into making an attack by going near them while running. once they try to strike and miss, preferably, run around them and strike them in the back. you’ve got about 2-3 strikes before you have to repeat the process all over. works on all of the enemies, with small variety to account for the differences. also also, if you’re aiming for the achievement “Cat Fight” you MUST use the officers sword for this one. I found out the hard way that you do not get the achievement if you use Flora’s sword and shield 💀 again, super cool game! i love it so much!!!!🥰🥰🥰

Alisa's fun, launch was pretty rough but they really cleaned it up.

If it is the game I think it is and it involves a lot of scares and lack of food, then I am so glad to see you cover those games, I liked them before they blew up in popularity out of morbid curiosity and became enamored with how many small details and exploits the games have. I am excited and hope you enjoyed all the little details as much as many players who managed to stomach through it did!

What sorcery is this!? Two Charl videos almost back to back!? We don't deserve you, love.

Any game with a fishing minigame instantly gains favor with me regardless of what the rest of the game is like

2:10 "I was almost a sandwich..." I love it when games wear their influence(s) on their sleeve like this. So... endearingly cheeky.

I wish this game came out back when I was young! This definitely looks like a game I'd love to play!
