  • I like to think that Dr. Strange was the first hero in the MCU to drop a save file before entering the final boss fight.

Never underestimate the power of being really annoying
  • I love how this was presented. Dr. Strange saying he has come to bargain at first sounds more like he's come to plead. But with each loop he becomes more confident until you hear it in his voice the bargain will be on his terms.

It's unclear how long this lasted, but I like to think this actually explains his apparent power upgrade between this movie and his later appearances. He was practicing his magic defending himself from Dormamu, and for all we know he was at it for perhaps years, maybe centuries.

Everyone loves what Ironman did, but people don't realize this is the biggest sacrifice in the entire MCU. He spent thousands of years getting killed and tortured over and over, and he was willing to do it indefinitely.

That moment just gives me goosebumps. I love how confident he is in that last line. "SET ME FREE!" "No. I've come to BARGAIN."
  • I love that Stephen Strange’s stubbornness was ultimately an asset when channeled in the right direction.
  • @linkman4432
There's no freaking way he went through this countless times and didn't say "Bargain! I've come to Dormammu!"
  • @gorrow1990
I remember when this scene got so much hate while I always found it was a unique and interesting way to get the best of a villain.

Meanwhile, in an alternate universe "Strange, I've come to die" "You've come to bargain"
  • @somanken
My theory on why this works on Dormammu and wouldn't work on later villains is that because he's on a higher dimension of consciousness he is aware of the time loop, notice how strange never references any previous loop, he is the same every time until Dormammu interrupts him, for strange each loop feels like the first time and he's simply responding to how Dormammu interacts with him. He wins by being a lesser and more limited being than Dormammu, turning his weakness (or lack of higher consciousness) into a strength. (also strange only does the time loop because this realm is timeless to begin with, so he's less likely to break reality)
  • I just love Dormammu's design here, the fabric of reality just distorts and vibrates in his presence
  • @mDelto
This is probably the best ending to an MCU movie because it doesn’t end with such a huge fight scene or one big bang, Dr. Strange is literally just here outsmarting the villain. You don’t see that often in these movies.
  • @HeatleyBros
Imagine dying in agonizing ways over and over again. That’s the hero part imo
  • @WispyParadox
God that is easily one of my favorite Marvel moments ever. It's so cold blooded "You bargain or you remain trapped forever." Or the more famous quote "I'm not stuck in here with you, you're stick in here with me!"
  • This is why I love Dr.Strange cause when it comes down to it he’s a hero that saved the day by annoying an otherworldly entity into submission and that gains my respect
  • @billhembrom
This scene teaches us why we should save before a boss fight

02:27, when he said that pain is an old friend, it hit hard 😢
