This genius passing skill & unselfish team-play leadership is what makes Larry Bird the greatest all around basketball player of all time.
  • Someone once said... "Magic Johnson made easy passes look spectacular, Larry Bird made spectacular passes look easy." Banger video bro! Larry passing was ridiculous. 🔥🔥
  • @thisguy8916
Bird made a priority of getting the ball to a teammate that he felt wasn't getting enough touches; bring them into the game & elevate the whole team... which opened-up his shooting, because you had to respect the fake.

There is no one in the league now that could play like Larry legend. He is the G.OA.T
  • @mikelombard21
"Somebody cut to the basket, Bird gonna find you". You aint lying man. Great video.

13 seasons the last half with a disintegrating spine. And you are 100% correct, Bird made McHale and Parrish into HOFers. This is my favorite LB compilation.
  • @venetoaward
Definitely the best non-guard passer ever, and definitely in the conversation of the best passer any role
  • @paulazzar8936
Even in retirement, injured, he took the dream team to a higher level with his passing. He made everybody play and look better. Nough said.

Larry Bird was the most fun player to watch of all time, IMO. Passing, rebounding, stealing, last-second clutch winning shot after last-second clutch winning shot, him playing injured and he was just plain so funny that you could see his sense of humor even in his playing.

Bird & DJ is where it was at; they had a silent communication beyond what even his teammates had. Notice that's who was on the spot when Bird stole that last-second inbound pass against the Pistons in the playoffs.

Hustle...and the fact that Bird was a scoring threat anywhere on the court...makes Bird's passes so incredibly effective 😄 It also makes his fakes so completely destructive to the other team. Bball IQ is obviously off the charts. At nearly 6'10", there isnt a better passer at his position or size. And the commentator stated he must lead the league in passes FROM being on THE FLOOR. I dont think Bird led in any numerical statistics in passing. Yes, that was Pete Maravich. He was on the team for a year...but Bird was passing and faking out players in college, so...not sure how much that influenced Bird. And his hand/eye coordination is, without question, top 3. Then, Bird is way stronger (and bigger) than most people realize. Plus, he was a good baseball player. Not sure how he was in football 😄 Bet Tom Brady watched Larry for his passing skills. 😉

He did EVERYTHING not only well, near perfect. He and MJ are the only two ALWAYS on my all time starting 5.
  • @andythoms8130
The awareness of his playing partners is impressive aswell, playing with Larry must have been an experience.
  • @nonsuch
When you said Parish and McHale were eatin' it made me think of a quote Parish said... "Larry Bird is the reason I have 5000 baskets" 😄! L⛹‍♂RRY🐦🏀🐐. BTW, Yes... that was Pistol Pete Maravich. They played together for a hot minute.

Larry passing was the killer to most defenses , three touches in 1 second with no time to react. Thread the needle on the run. You are correct with quarterback analogy. Think how happy teammates are to share the court with a wizard who could get you the ball ANYWHERE ANYTIME. Combine this with a guy who won the three point contest 3 years in a row. You HAVE to guard him close and it never seemed to mind how many people you put on him, he came through in the clutch. I saw him one time with 4 people guarding him and he head faked them ALL into jumping together then he calmly made the basket. THE LEGEND LIVES ON.
  • Man, how many full court passes after a made basket are in this video? I can't remember the last time I saw ANYBODY do that and it looks like Bird did it routinely!
  • @hoi-polloi1863
You mentioned that you can't even double-team Bird for fear he'd pull off some crazy pass. I've seen a lot of times where he encourages the double-team, waiting for the 2nd man to come up then bops it over to Parish or McHale for the easy bucket.
  • @robgelfand2414
Great reaction. You got it all correct. Bird knew where everyone on the court was at all times. Birds teammates also knew where they needed to be. Watch the video and look at his teammates right before he passed the ball to them, they were ready and expecting it. Bird expected you to hustle and be where you are supposed to be based upon recognizing the game situation. Bird made those he played with much better.
  • @bwink23
I enjoy your reactions cuz you actually seeing the small faints and setups that lead to his passing or scoring, which is a big part in the beauty of what he is doing out there. His got defenders like puppets on strings.

You are the 2nd reactor I’ve heard in 2 days say how much they’d like to play with Larry Legend. And it’s TRUE. It would have been a blast. Just listen to Bill Walton: it WAS a blast! According to him, everyone was jazzed to come to practice every day! I think those would be memories that would keep you warm long into old age. Larry was phenomenal. And it was even more fun for us fans believe me! We all knew that Larry would surprise at least once a game!
