75 Years Old TVs. Antique Radio Doctor.

Published 2022-02-25
In this video I made a visit to Barry Dalton the Antique Radio Doctor here in Grants Pass Oregon. Barry has been a permanent fixture here in Grants Pass Oregon for many years repairing older car radios and other antique electronic equipment. Since he's about to close up his shop I was glad he was willing to give me a tour of his collection of Antique TVs and Radios..
Here is Barrys youtube channel.

It's amazing how far we've come in TV equipment. I couldn't imagine trying to watch TV on those small antique screens compared to the modern ones. 😁 Most people would probably consider that stuff to be junk these days unfortunately.
  • God bless you Barry. Hope your retirement gives you comfort and joy. Thank you Grant for showing us all a true American who just fell in love with his passion. That is something that is really hard to do these days. Peace and good luck. vf

The Early Television Museum in Hilliard Ohio would love to have those old TV sets in their museum. No one collects old Howard Sams shop manuals? What ? There is a lucrative bunch of sellers on eBay that would love to get their hands on them to sell to guys like me. I only work on tube phonographs and radios however. Thanks for showing this man's shop and collection. It is superb.

Amazing that he started ripping into tv's in 4th grade and lived to tell about it. Some of those old caps could stop your heart. Thats a cool shop!

Good video. Would be really nice to see this equipment end up in a museum for preservation and so others can appreciate it.
  • Thank you!!! Cheers from Patagonia Argentina

what a man of rich history, so glad he was there to cherish vintage electronics. its a shame guys like him are few and far between nowadays. yes we live in a age of disposable electronics. nowadays its cheaper to just buy a new tv rather than pay a repairman to fix yours. tv repair is a thing of the past unless you working on your own stuff

These makes my 1950´s Aristona tv look almost look modern.

The old radios & TV's had such style and they were built to last unlike pretty much everything of today!
  • Just think of all the history viewed and listened to on those time machines. I remember watching hockey games on my 12" black and white TV in my bedroom thinking how lucky I was. Now I get upset if I'm streaming a movie on my firestick and it buffers.

You are awesome, really good video

Sad to see such a old ship vanish from existence. Thanks for sharing
  • Some nice vintage TV's. The 3" Pilot actually sold for $99.50. Still, not as cheap as it sounds now, but it was half the price of the cheapest 7" TV's of the time. Most vintage TV's in collections are from the 1948-1950 period. That's when TV really took off and most people justified spending the money.
  • well done, i never seen these b4, and love seeing historical tech b4 we go back to the stone age
