2004 Land Rover Discovery SE7 Review POV

Published 2017-11-04
I've owned and worked on this car for four months now and wanted to let you all know how it's been.

First time doing a POV video and didn't get the angle quite right. Sorry

Interior, walkaround and off-roading to come

For anyone viewing this in 2020, this car is for sale and located in CT
  • All Land Rovers are a labour of love.....my series 2A, series 3 and freelander 1.8 have had all the horrible jobs done by previous owners....now I have cheap and practical (if not safe) trucks. Keep up the good work.

Good review, I have the same model bought it in 2008 with 33K miles. You're absolutely right, if a person can't or won't repair it themselve it's not the right vehicle. So many parts went bad around 100,000 miles. The three amigos!! I drove with those light on for a year before finding a way to fix it on a L.R Forum. Door lock actuatiors 3 doors, front window guides replaced twice, full cooling system replacement including plastic overflow tank, all plastic coolant and emmission lines under the hood replaced. Headliner started sagging at 60,000 miles replaced it last year, that made the truck feel new again. Suspension has been replaced, crank sensor twice, starter and alternator.

Thank you for the info, Yes you have to Love them. It's funny when driving it looked like you where driving 80 through the wooded area, just they way the video came out. Thank you.
  • Transmissions on Discoveries are not a problem item. Transfer cases can give a few issues but that is usually due to lack of maintenance.

I did the head gaskets and some other top end work over Christmas of 2019 and the power seems to have improved
  • He didn’t neglect it he drove it, lol it’s a Land Rover. Own one myself never been a year it ran without a problem besides the first 4. Yet I love it and will continue to fix it, and I don’t know why

Your Uncle really neglected this car. Glad you have it up and running. You should post more vids. I’m really thinking about an ‘04 with 100,000 miles on it

Hey there buddy! I read your review online for this and looked for a video. I got to drive this car for about a month and loved it. I agree that this car is a money pit but at the time I didn't pay for anything because my grandma owned the car. I was looking at one for about $5k and 100,000 miles on it. It's in great condition from what I see. I was going to use this as a daily driver and a bug out vehicle. Any thoughts on if this would be worth it?

This was an amazing help. I really love this truck but the cons are unsettling. I trust your guidance from experience. Would you buy this truck here >> https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/d/2004-land-rover-discovery-ii/6625448727.html
