The 2022 BMW M240i xDrive ($56,950 CAD starting, $48,550 in the United States) and the 2018 BMW M2 ($54,000 CAD used, ~$50,000 USD on the American market) pose an interesting $50k question. While the new M240i xDrive has more power than the older and rear-driven M2, it also weighs more and can only be had with an automatic transmission. James ponders which of the two he would rather choose, while Thomas needs much less time to deliberate. Watch to see what happens! SUBSCRIBE!

THANKS to AMP Motorsports www.amp-motorsports.com/ for wrapping the M2 in XPEL's 10mil PPF and fully ceramic coating it. (If you were ever on the fence about ceramic coating or PPF, get off it, and pull the trigger. You WON'T regret it).

THANKS to safe-auto.ca for delivering Thomas' M2 safely and quickly. Call these guys if you need a car delivered or stored. They are simply the best.

THANKS to Apex www.apexraceparts.com for continuing to outfit our cars in sick, durable track wheels. (We have a full season of endurance racing on these wheels and we get the feeling they will outlast every other part of the car).

"This is a manual, which makes me more handsome and a superior car enthusiast." Well said Thomas, well said.
  • @ChrisN06999
"all I needed this to be was a not ugly 4 series because they've decimated that car in my eyes." I felt that.

The F87 M2 is seriously one of the best looking cars BMW made in recent history. I can’t find an angle that doesn’t look good. I really hope I can have one of these in my parking stalls one day! Thomas made such a good choice
  • One more thing I like more in the 2018 M2 is the headlights. I personally always loved the double round headlights, it always made look BMWs apart from the other German competitors. On the BMW M240i the headlights to me look too "Audi". Anyways. Thank you guys for the content, I really enjoy your shows! Congrats for the M2! Drive safe!
  • BMW M2 is as near perfect as it could be, really happy to see that Thomas bought one
  • @AlbertSpice
The M2 is not only about speed. Its about the way it drives. Love the new car Thomas

I bought 2022 M240i xDrive in November 2021 and I can attest that not only I can drive it all year but it is also a beast in sports plus mode and a very comfortable cruiser in the comfort mode. If you are on a fence about M240i vs M2 and need AWD then don’t sweat it, get M240i, you will not regret it. This car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
  • Coming back after a whole year, and I gotta say, I have changed my mind more and more. The new M240i is actually gorgeous in person. I’ve only seen 1 or 2 in my entire year. So they are pretty rare sight to see. And they look agressive and muscular AF

Congratulations on the new Ride Thomas 🎉🚗 it's not always about the power and the top speed it's more about how that car makes you feel 🔥
  • @Mr_Vishal...
You guys have no idea how much I love this channel and addicted to it. The way you guys communicate with us and cars make me feel like you are my brothers even though I am from India and you guys are from Canada and US. I dont think I have ever watched a better car channel than this ever. Love you guys. And I know its late but congratulations on you new M2. I wish you guys could buy more are more exciting cars in the future. Also one of the best part of TH is its intro. You never fail in it. Each video makes me happier. A Big FAN of Throttle House.

DAMN. Didn't expect that initial race to be that much of a gap session.
  • @SROSHMAN
Taking a step back from the beloved 2 series, let’s take a moment to appreciate the production quality and cinematography that really makes TH stand out. Well done!
  • Congratulations Thomas! Hard work truly does pay off. Thanks for the great video boys!

Thomas’s energy when he is talking about his car and what he is going to do to it is genuine car guy moves. The first thing you do is work out the build list in your head, good times!

"I think I bought the right car, for my purposes anyways". Probably the best thing I have heard on a car review in a long time. There will always be faster, but when a car makes you smile and brings a joy back back to driving, that is the car to own, no matter what to is. Congrats on the amazing car! - Kevin M2C manual Alpine White

Yeah the OG M2 will be an item in the years to come. It looks just the way a special project car should look, coming from the M division. I mean it has M4 suspension under the body, it has the DCT from the M5 and has a track spec N55 engine with the trick oiling system from the S55. Plus, it also has something most car do not, a glorious howl from the quad pipes.
  • @whoschuck
Thomas & James - I just want to congratulate you on building such an amazing channel. I envy you guys because I to am a SERIOUS car enthusiast and I had always wanted to build a channel like this but could never get a good partner to commit to start it with me. You guys filled the spot and you are doing a phenomenal job in what is my absolute DREAM JOB! I watch EVERY video you guys post AND I also just purchased a barely used (8,200 mile) Hockenheim silver metallic M2 cs (6MT). I went "full fat" on the M2 and I am un the US and my car was actually imported from Canada! After I saw the video you guys posted on the M2 cs a year or so back and then after seeing this video, a few years back I set a goal to get one and I just took delivery last week. It is the car of my dreams, perfect in every way, mind the diaper exhaust which is already on order to be changed. Look for videos about my M2 cs on my channel posted soon!
  • Loved this video. You guys helped me decide to trade in my S4 manual for an M2 Comp, so awesome to see Thomas got one too (minus the comp). Sad though about the backseat on the new 2, as it was one of the clinchers as the M2 is actually way more adult room than my 2015 S4. Probably means I'm sticking with my f87 for quite a while
  • @johnoakes34
That 2018 M2 is seriously one of the best looking cars at ANY angle! Congrats Thomas 👏 I'm totally jelly
