Some of the video was sped up, the whole thing comes down in the end. This house was used in "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark"

Sad to see it torn down. Originally built for the 1942 film King's Row, this facade was part of Warner Bros. residential street for decades. Well known for being used in Elvira Mistress of the Dark, it was last used in the TV show Gilmore Girls as the character Dean's house. To those who have commented that it isn't important because it's not a real house, I'd remind you that this is still part of film history. It'd be a little like seeing them tear down the Munsters or Leave it to Beaver houses on Universal's backlot. When they're gone, they're gone.

I was at Warner Bros. backlot in summer 2013, sad to see a piece of Hollywood history torn down for a gift shop. The street it was in  Hazzard county from the Dukes of Hazzard and was recently used for four years on Hart of Dixie.
  • that WAS!!!!! a beautiful home i wish i could have seen the in side before they knocked it down
  • @Oldlionel
Yea, I wondered why the whole thing shook as he tore into it.....it's a fake house
  • @fcextra6625
I get that it's a fake house. But they still should have saved the windows, and trims. They were actually quite beautiful.

You're right! It's a fake. No interior, no rear windows. no wiring or plumbing.

The house was located at Universal Studios, Hollywood.
  • 🤔id still live in it idc if it's fake, its gorgeous! Id create my own interior 🤔😍😭
  • horrific, they could have disassembled it and her fans would gladly hVE BOUGHT IT AS MEMORABILIA
  • @justsumguy2u
You can tell it's just a facade, because it was built quite flimsy compared to a regular house. And that's understandable

    No Plaster inside.................................Thus Façade.............

Maison en bois de poupée, à la première tempête elle s'envole !! Wooden doll house, at the first storm it flies !!

Sad to see a beautiful house like this destroyed until you see how flimsy it was built. If someone tried to move it the thing would fall into a pile of sticks.
