You know I always wanted an explanation of how the car design affected the physics. And after all these years I finally get an answer (sort of). Interestingly enough I never used the Turbo Cart Chassis.

I've played this game since I was a child, I still have my 1999 disc on my shelf in its original jewel case, and somehow I'm learning about mechanics I never even thought of before. I didn't even know this game had a weight system for the various chassis. I do remember using snap slides but never even thought of it as an actual mechanic, though the super warps are definitely something I've never seen before. Very informative video, I'm not a speedrunner at all but it's great to have a video that explains a lot of stuff about one of my most beloved games of all time.

11:00 OH the borders represent the theme each race is associated with! Blue for Space Grey for Castle Tan for Adventurers Yellow for Pirates which has some weird implications for Rocket Racer from the 1999 game but still

Theory: the warp that makes Emmet come to the real world in the LEGO Movie is based on the warp from LEGO Racers.

I am so pleased to discover there are several hidden layers of depth - in possibly my alltime favourite childhood game - that make it still worth playing to this day. Godspeed

  • YES i KNEW there was something to talk about when it comes to making your lego car. I just didn't see any videos talking about it.
  • Had this on the real n64. Probably my favorite racer games.

Amazing video! Given how much time I spent in this game both casually and speedrunning, I never thought I'd be surprised by this game again, but this video blew my mind so many times.

Amazing Vincent, 2023 is truly the year for LR speedrunning!

I remember playing this game a lot on the Nintendo 64 when I was in elementary school. To be poetic, I even decided to walk through the single player mode on the morning before my last day at high school. I finished the single player tournament within about 30 minutes. I didn't realize that I just speedran it. I also remember an odd bug in Knightmare-Athon where if you start a warp in the final section with the floating ship, the warp ends where you just started. I remember watching this bug in action while messing around in 2 player mode. I assume it's the ship causing it, but that's just me being a bit salty.
