Some Chinese trains still have dining cars with hot food made to order, they're just a lot less common these days with all the HSR routes. Need to get out on the green trains ;)

But don't forget, Waymo self-driving cars could be the missing link for the US's incomplete train system. Waymo only exists in California and Phoenix right now. It runs 24/7, and people can just call one to pick them up and go straight back home whenever their trains are delayed or after operating hours.
