Braided Egg Bread and More🥚🥚🥚🍞 Pan de Huevo #baking #eggbread #fromscratch

Hello everyone. This is my favorite bread recipe. Easy to freeze and store long term, and the taste is out of this world.

This is actually, my father's bread recipe. The only recipe I learned from him. It is called egg bread because it really uses lots of eggs.

INGREDIENTS:

3 tbsp dry yeast
2 cups warm water (105° to 110° F)
2 tbsp white sugar

2 cups warm water (105° to 110° F)
5-8 room temperature eggs (5 large or up to 8 if the eggs are small) + 1 egg for egg wash
1 tbsp salt
1 cup white sugar

5 lbs unbleached bread flour
1 cup vegetable oil

STEPS:
In a large bowl, combine the first 3 ingredients (yeast, warm water, and white sugar). Lightly mix, place in a warm place, and allow the yeast to bloom for 5 minutes.

Minwhile, in a extra large bowl, combine the second set of ingredients (warm water, eggs, salt, and sugar). Mix well until the sugar and salt completely dissolve.

Combine the first and second mixtures. Then, begin to add the flour, 2-3 cups at a time, and the vegetable oil in parts. Once everything has been fully combined, pour the dough on your (clean) countertop and begin to knead the dough for 10 minutes.
*THIS CAN BE DONE IN A STAND MIXER. I just enjoy making this bread by hand.

Use additional oil or cooking spray to spray the container. This will prevent the dough from sticking to the container. Place the dough in the container, cover, and place in a warm place for one (1) hour until it doubles in size.

After the one (1) hour, place the dough on your counter top, cut into two (2) equal sizes.

*THIS DOUGH CAN BE SHAPPED ANY WAY YOU LIKE.

After shaping the dough as you like, cover again and allow it to rise a second time for one (1) additional hour.

Preheat your over at 350° F

After the dough rises a second time, use one (1) egg and 1/2 tablespoon water to make an egg wash. Apply the egg wash to the bread.
Bake at 350° F for 45 minutes or until down.

I hope you give this recipe a try. It is truly an amazing bread.
