Fighting in Gaza has intensified again today, including in the southern city of Rafah, despite international calls for Israel to show restraint.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted his forces would press on - saying efforts to root out another four Hamas battalions could take weeks.

While Palestinians have been marking the anniversary of what they call the 'Nakba' or catastrophe - when hundreds of thousands were forced to flee their homes during the 1948 war surrounding Israel's creation.

    That is funny. Nakba was coined by Constantine Zurayk to describe the inability of five Arab armies to destroy Israel in 1948.
