Our First Drive covers the pros and cons of the brand-new Lexus GX 550 and Overtrail. In this video, we interview the Chief Engineer, Drive the SUV on and Off-Road, and cover the technical details. Will this be a worthy successor to the past Lexus Truck-Based SUVs? Will buyers choose this over Land Rover, BMW X5, X7, and Mercedes?

  • You'd better like it. Next redesign will be around 2050. Previous gen was sold for 22 years.

I love how Lexus is keeping real buttons and real handles. People don’t want every configurable aspect of their vehicle to be sloppily shoved into an iPad bolted to the dash. People want real buttons and real dials. Excellent work Lexus

"there is zero piano black plastic anywhere in here " ....HOW DARE YOU SIR!!!! -Jeep Grand Cherokee designer ,probably.
  • That interpreter is really, really good, if not outstanding. He is very fluent in Lexus/Toyota and car design terminology. He must be from corporate HQ.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that these guys were able to sit down and interview the chief engineer of this new GX? This channel has come so far that people are getting used to exclusive content like this, but I just want to say thank you for what you’re doing and please continue the great work! 🔥

Physical key controls while still keeping good tech, zero piano black, actually towing and off-road capable unlike other princess boats, while still being luxurious with Toyota reliability? Awesome! Absolutely brilliant.

Summary: “my favorite Lexus suv product by a considerable margin” -jack.
  • @nf1369
The Toyoda-san/B58 joke caught me off guard. I laughed pretty hard at that lol.
  • @PatrickLino
1:42 - You can hear Jack in the background laughing at that serial killer joke! 🤣
  • @aussie2uGA
Every new model always has the “20% more rigid than previous…”. At this point in time, we should be driving vehicles 500% more rigid than the originals.
  • @genzigzag
Wow, an actual dashboard in a luxury vehicle, thank you Lexus! Far superior to 24" - 32" of LCD screens propped up by struts. This is a vehicle I would want to keep for the long term, unlike the recent throw away European makes.
  • Here I am, on the clock, on the toilet, at a Lexus dealership, watching videos about the new Lexus GX, after having just detailed an old GX. Such is life
  • I’ve seriously been drooling over the GX for months now. 🤤 Haven’t been a fan of the massive, tacky grills they couldn’t seem to shake the past decade but Lexus seriously knocked this one out of the park. 👏🏻

Hearing Jack laugh in the background after the serial killer comment was way funnier than it needed to be. Love the content as always
  • Agree, the rear window opening helps with a long rolled-up carpet, and then tossing in the shovel and pickaxe

I can't decide between Off-road or Luxury package for my Arby's drive through trips...
  • @ddrennon
I love that the infotainment screen is better integrated into the dash and isn't a tacked on thing that sticks up into my line of sight.
  • @Bammarks
The pinnacle of tanuki design. supreme luxury. nice job Toyota San
  • @drewmorg.
10/10 on the looks. Lexus/Toyota absolutely nailed this one. This is a beautiful vehicle that will age well.
