Star Wars Galaxy's Edge was a large-scale project that went over budget, resulting in the cancellation of some planned features. One of these features was a third attraction, which surprisingly according to Imagineer Jim Shull, could still be added to the land. Hey, Brickey investigated this proposal and found some possible clues that helped solve some of the mysteries of Galaxy's Edge. Based on this investigation, Hey Brickey developed a unique theory about how this attraction would have worked, where it would have been located, and how it may have been responsible for some of the subtle differences between Disney Hollywood Studios and Disneyland.

It's such a bummer they don't use that upper area even for shows. Being able to see lightsabre battles would be so cool

This is genius analysis. Disney truly needs a change in leadership that purges the cheapskates. Disney needs to spend the money to WOW people. If they built WOW attractions then they could charge whatever they wanted to get into the parks. Current executives have the mindset that they can be as cheap as possible and still charge whatever they want. That’s why they are in such problems now.

Disney delaying the implementation of the ride comes down to simple economics - in about 10 years after release, visitors and interest in Galaxy's Edge wanes and they start to lose profitability on the region. You need new rides and fresh things to keep interest up. Disney, for the first time, has intentionally designed-in upgradability and expansion into a part of the park. They didn't cut the ride or leave it out, they're just not ready to install it yet. The Star Wars Wedway People Mover will be installed eventually.

No one is doing Disneyland with as much care, expertise and love. Can’t wait for everyone else to catch onto your channel!

I have told guests that the large door past the market is the entrance to the Galactic People Mover, which was canceled. There is also room for the ride to go around the market past the Falcon. The ride you described would be a huge people eat. Great for the whole family.
  • This is the norm for Disney—big dreams meet reduced budget, every time. Paul Pressler's tenure at Disneyland in the '90s was notorious for this (cases in point: "Light Magic", "Rocket Rods")

IMO they should have themed the section after all three trilogies. The side closest to fantasyland is prequel era, you get to the falcon and the shops, it's OG trilogy, you get past the shops, to rise, and it's sequel trilogy. They keep mindful of sight lines so you never see two characters interacting from the wrong eras, and then characters from any time could show in the park. Employees tell a story about black spires that feels so timeless that it doesn't really need to be specific to any trilogy.

You are like the Magnum P.I. of Disney Parks. Great sleuthing Brickey

This is spot on! Kinetic energy is even stronger than The Force.

Nice work Brickey! I’m sure this project was further along than we realized. Something I’ve noticed but didn’t put together until now is on the Rivers of America side of the land, the soundtrack includes sounds of a large animal trampling through the bushes. Part of the immersion with that attraction maybe?

I just saw the firework show you dreamed up for us. Thank you for recommending it to your fellow citizens of Disneyland during this amazing video. Man, does the Star Wars geek inside of me would love a presentation like that. Also adding kinetic energy to Galaxy’s Edge with a 3rd attraction would be so great. I’m going along this journey with you Brickey. You constantly give me (us) great hope in the possible future for the Disneyland Resort. It’s fun dreaming. Your site is gives us so much more than other theme-park websites. Some are entertaining to me, but you give us so much more. I don’t know why your subscribers never reached 100K+. I was with you since you were, I think, 14K.

Nice use of the maps with your lines drawn and the animated arrow. Great video Brickey!

Such a good idea to have Elee as a giant puppet up front! Great production value and reporting

If the Galactic Starcruiser really is gone for good, I do hope that some of the show elements from that experience make their way into Galaxy’s Edge, like the walk around droid, walk around Rodian who speaks Huttese, the dinner theater with a Twi’lek superstar, the extending lightsaber, and the stunt shows on catwalks.

I’ve always wondered why there is so much unused space at Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. In light of the now undeniable fact that Disney doesn’t care all that much about imagineering and the customer experience any longer it makes perfect sense that they just cheaped out on this.
  • @bruiser666
Wow! This is just what the area needs. This ride would be amazing! I love imagining all the wonderful things that will hopefully come to our beloved park someday!

I live in Anaheim and when they started building the new attraction, all you could see were large piles or dirt. I joked with my friends that it’s going to be like Tattoine. Wish they did. One of the attractions could be a zip line over the Sarlacc pit.

Hey Brickey! It was great getting a moment of your time to chat by Pixie Hallow Sunday. Breaking ground for this Bantha ride is what I’d wish for the next d23 announcement to be (way more than something like an avatar experience or Forward plans for 10-15 yrs from now). An outdoor kinetic experience that could be as interesting to spectators as it is to riders would take that land to the next level. Thanks for sharing your thought on it
  • This sounds like it would be amazing! And both versions of Galaxy’s Edge could really use the extra capacity. I love how both versions would be unique.
  • Love to see them go subterranean first - use the Avatar flight technology for a Land Speeder ride. Or better yet - X-Wing vs Tie Fighter ride where you split the riders to two teams for flight school simulator. You could even have different queues with different stories to prep the new recruits
