We will see another game seven on Monday, so I wanted to take a look back before we look forward.

i want true chaos. i want overtime in game 7. next goal wins the cup
  • @luisr945
Vegas did not win 4 in a row, they won twice in a row two times to win the scf against the florida panthers

Crazy how rare a game 7 Stanley cup finals game is. Only 1 in the last decade
  • I got two hockey guy videos going off on different devices. Stereo Shannon !

“Marge, we’re out of neopolitan ice cream.” every chocolate portion consumed
  • First goal is critical Monday. Only 1987 Flyers lost after scoring first.

The Canucks are twice on this board, yaaaaaaay…

The Florida panthers franchise won’t recover from this if they indeed lose.

I think Mcdavid gets the Con smythe no matter what. Beyond an incredible performance by bob game 7, and even then I’m not 100% sold because he’s been not great for half this series. Mcdavid on the other hand is having a record breaking playoffs and is one game away from winning it all. Even if they lose it’s hard to overlook what he’s done with getting this close
  • fun fact : last time the NHL had a hockey game on june 24 was in 2021 and the habs won it to go on to the finals. june 24th being quebec day, i really hope the oil brings back the cup! there will be celebrations in the quebec province if they do or if they don't but it will be better if they do
  • Something to note is since 1987, the team that scores first has always taken a 2-0 lead, and then eventually wins the game 7. Not a single lead change or even tie game other than 0-0.
  • Vegas did not win in 4 straight games. However they did win in 4 straight in the first round against Winnipeg.
  • No coming back from this if the Panthers lose. With this squad, they could get back there next season, and mentally collapse again and again!

Shannon is the real winner, imagine the content 🎉
  • The 2001 run was the most fun of the three cups I’ve experienced as an Avs fan. Bourque, Blake, not having Forsberg, it had so much packed into that second season. The party that night too, that was legendary.

I watched EVERY game in the 1994 and 2001 Finals. Great hockey series'.
  • Definately my favorite game 7 was 2001. Seeing Raymond Bourque lift the Cup still gives me chills!

Connor mcdavid should get the conn smythe regardless of who wins Monday. He’s having a generational playoff run that is only matched by Lemieux and Gretzky

I remember the 1987 finals and it's one of the biggest heartbreaks of my sports fandom. The Oilers up 3-1, going back to Edmonton for game 5 the newspapers published parade routes for the next day and for a while it looked like the series was over as the Oilers had a 2-0 then 3-1 lead but the Flyers battled back to win 4-3. Game 6 back at the Spectrum is probably the greatest hockey game I ever saw. The Oilers up 2-1 with about 7 minutes left when Brian Propp tied it up then a minute and a half later, a shot on Fuhr deflected all the way back to the blue line when JJ Daigneault hit a slap shot past Fuhr for a 3-2 lead. I swear I heard the pop from my house in South Jersey when that goal went in. Then game 7 which was a day before my 22 birthday I thought it was destiny(the Sixers on their last title on this exact same date in 1983). Flyers take a 1-0 lead but Messier tied it. Then the Oilers score in the 2nd and with both teams battling, Glen Anderson slid one under Hextall and the look of dejection on him broke my heart. We've been back to the finals twice since then but both were anti climactic by comparison(4-0 loss to the Redwings and 4-2 loss to Chicago). My heart still aches over this series.
